June 28, 20224 yr So we had a palm tree that was shading 2 sets of panels for about 3 to 4 hours a day. The palm also made a mess in the pool (that is my excuse and I am sticking to it), so today the tree got removed 🤣 We went from 2kw to 2.5kw immediately as the tree at any one point in time was shading 3 of 12 panel. The cleaning of the panels was from the saw dust that covered 4 of the panels. If you ever wondered what shading does / how badly it effects your generation... Now you know !! #sorry-to-all-the-tree-huggers  Â
June 28, 20224 yr Very nice ! Normally i would not condone cutting down tree's for solar but palm trees can be an exception for sure. People plant them because they think they are in paradise or something Â

The mess it makes is unreal and then you have to deal with palm leaves flying off in the wind from 25m up all while, all you can see of the tree is the trunk
June 28, 20224 yr If all the panels are able to produce 18A except for one, which is only able to produce 5A because of shading from a tree or something. Then the whole string is restricted to 5A. Shade on one panels pulls the whole string down. Â
June 28, 20224 yr Damn, I went on to the roof today when I saw my production dip for no apparent reason. Turns out, in winter, the old hag's palm tree next door covers 2 panels for about 1.5hrs, and there is nothing I can do about it. I even offered to have the old branches trimmed, and she refused.

June 28, 20224 yr Its lovely to see a beautiful bell curve once the shade is gone. Been there done that too. What a mess to clean up afterwards. To keep the green going, go plant two trees in a park. All tree huggers will give you a hug too.

I already have a number of newly planted mess free trees in the space which we will be hugging for a while. Couple that is the decreased grid reliance, I can still sleep at night knowing I am a little more green 🌲
