July 20, 20223 yr Hi and thanks for your help. I bought a 3kVA Fivestar inverter. In the book it mentions the monitoring software and supplies a cable. There was no CD with software in the box. Can anyone here please advise on where to download the software from? Thanks. Deon
July 20, 20223 yr I think that Fivestar are legitimate resellers of Voltronic made Axperts. [ Edit: but see 2 posts down. ] But then, why no CD? IF they are Axpert compatible, then assuming it's an off-grid model (you didn't say), then the Watchpower software should work, even though it's not brilliant. It can be downloaded for free from Voltronic or MPPSolar web sites; the latter is slightly easier as you don't have to register. Look for Downloads pages. Edited July 21, 20223 yr by Coulomb

Yes, it is off-grid panel. I will download the software and give it a go. Thanks again.

After a PM from a forum reader, I did a little more checking, and found this: The above is definitely a clone (bad barcode number, ¢ symbol, silver screw), but maybe there are legitimate Fivestars, and this is a clone of such? Or possibly they are all clones, but they've gotten better at hiding their clone status.
October 6, 20223 yr I see Fivestar inverters are manufactured in China but says it has German technology

December 27, 20223 yr We bought the 2kw portable power station. It took 4 hours to charge. We then ran a fridge and freezer but the battery only lasted about 1 and a half hour. Is this normal? I also cant find a website for Fivestar.

Ek neem aan jy het een 12V battery. Hoeveel persent van die inverter se kapasiteit gebruik jy wanneer die krag af is? Uiteindelik het alles te doen met hoe groot die las is.

It depends on the loads and on the characteristics of the battery/ies. My mother has a little trolley inverter. It has two by 105wh batteries. So 210 in total. Assuming that you can get all of that capacity (you can't), you can back up a 210W load for about an hour (there will be losses in converting from DC to AC). If you have a 105W load you can back that up for about 2 hours. And so on. My much bigger system has 10kwH of battery. It will back up a 10kw load for one hour - and that is a big load. It will back up 1 kw for about 10 hours. It would backup that 210W load for a loooooong time. Remember that with most devices there are two loadings that come into play. The continuous load, and the startup load. This is particularly pertinent to fridges and freezers because they have a motor that starts up at regular intervals, and will draw a lot more, for a short while, than it will once it is running. I just checked my fridge and freezer. The loads indicated on the stickers exceed 200w for the two. They won't use that all the time, but if you've only a small battery (or the wrong kind of battery), that battery will not back them up for very long. It's important to understand the load that you want to back up, and then size the inverter and battery accordingly. Edited December 28, 20223 yr by Bobster. spelinng
March 20, 20233 yr I bought a 48 volt 5Kw five-star inverter. Unfortunately it was fitted with a 12volt chip /computer inside. How can I tell if that it had a 48v upgrade so i can use it? see answer by email as I might never see this forum again. Andrew

How can I tell if that it had a 48v upgrade so i can use it? Surely that should be fixed under warranty. If it's one of the Fivestars that is actually a Voltronic, several firmwares cater for various models (different rated power and battery voltage) by sensing the voltage on one particular pin at powerup. The resistors setting that voltage are presumably on the control board, if your model uses one. Otherwise, near the processor somewhere. But without more information, it's impossible to tell what firmware you are using, and therefore what pin needs what voltage. It would be vastly simpler to get the correct control board for your model from your supplier.
April 23, 20233 yr Hi all Trying to get software to monitor the inverter but it is asking for password to do that any ideas. Thanks Deon S

May 13, 20233 yr Hi. I bought a fivestar 5kva hybrid solar inverter. I have 4x batteries and 3panels on the roof connected. There was a small CD in the box but cant find any where to plug any computer cable into the inverter. Can anyone please explain al the settings and functions of the inverter in simple tearms. I am really clueless.
May 18, 20233 yr Hi do you have a manuel for 3kva fivestar inverter...please email it on [email protected]

Depending on your version of your 5kW FS inverter at the bottom of the inverter are 2 connectors for data transfer communication - either a RJ45 or DB9 RS232 port and a USB (similar to a printer port). With the correct cable and software on PC, Notebook or Tablet, you can capture data from inverter

June 6, 20233 yr It is sold as a Fivestar dongle, I think its also a plug pro . I am not using any cable as the inverter have a serial 8 pin connector Thanks for the reply
