July 28, 20224 yr So after reading through WannabeSolarSparky's thread about his self induced load shedding and the one post where he mentioned that he uses less power on the days that he has load shedding, it got me thinking. I have small spikes during the day on my grid power graph: Zoomed in: Will I be better off switching off the mains during the day? Is there a way to prevent this on the Deye? Thanks G
July 28, 20224 yr Not sure why it's happening, except that it coincides with spikes in your usage. The 20W levels are probably because you've set your zero export value to that. I guess you could turn off the mains, but you'll also be losing the passthrough when doing that. Perhaps set your zero export value lower?

July 28, 20224 yr If he has enough excess solar then the non essentials can run. But good point on that as there may be times of not enough excess to run it, e.g if the washing machine is on non essential and it's washing day could be a trouble but then switch it on.
July 28, 20224 yr When i have my trickle load it is constant and not up and down like that. Unless you maybe have times when you have zero loads drawing?!? But that would mean your base loads are almost nonexistent which is not the case from your chart shown. Interesting...

July 28, 20224 yr Hi @DieDusman I cannot comment if the flow from the Utility can cause this, but my logic says that the power from external will not fluctuate like that. I would investigate which appliance is causing that flow. I would think that an appliance with a relay may cause that. I have a more even flow in my electricity where the fridge is on for 20 minutes and then off for 40. Fridges whose refrigerant levels are not correct may make that fridge consume energy most of the time. Anyway, just a few Thinking Out Loud comments

Main DB is split to Non-essential DB and Essential DB. Essential DB runs permanently on the inverter while there is eskom and excess is fed/pushed to the non-essentials DB. As soon as eskom goes down the transfer switch brings the non-essentials DB onto the essentails DB, the inverter then runs both.

In my case the non-essentials is actually just my stove and geyser, the geyser has already been moved to my essentials side when I started doing my off-grid trial tests. Just for clarity, my setup is not typical. In my case my essentials DB is not powering anything in my house except my crypto rig as I consider that my essential load. Then on my house db is split to essential DB and non-essentails DB, it is this house side essentials DB that gets pulled/transferswitched into my main essentials DB on the inverter side when the grid goes down. July 29, 20224 yr You are right... When grid is down there is no Mon essential supply. Sorry I forgot about that ! Reason so is I had the guys kitchen on Aux so that a kettle can run in the kitchen when no grid and at certain battery limits so when I did simulated mains failure I saw it bringing in solar forgetting it's on the Aux port. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. second thing is Wannabe, the auto transfer switch is very clever to over come this. May I ask what size transfer switch you used and was it auto or manual ? Greta info and lessons on this post thank you

July 29, 20224 yr Those spikes are because the inverter is running in grid tied mode and the load suddenly changes (like a fridge compressor turning on). Why does it bother you?
