July 28, 20224 yr Hi Guys Finally decided to go Sunsynk, being an installer I became tired of the growatt setup and it's limitations. Out with old and in with the new. Setup: 8kw Sunsynk supplied by and thanks @Leshen 16 X 545 Watt JA Mono panels, split on different side of the house 2 x BSL 7kw Batteries with cabinet. on the first day after install at 7:50am panels on East side were producing around 1100 watts numbers kept growing. As luck would have the past two days had some big clouds 😂 Feeding to non essential load I saw 6200watts from PV I am sure there is more but will see on a good day. BSLs went in today.... I must say this inverter is silent fans kick in when they should Edited August 11, 20223 yr by Treschen
August 11, 20223 yr Author Added Solar assistant on a RPi with USB to RS485 cable to the inverter. Using HA with node Red to turn on geyser when battery is around 98% SOC.... Now I want little bit more with temp readings on the geyser, will be looking at a sonoff probe for this, not to keen on removing the thermostat want to try see if the probe can sit somewhere else
August 27, 20223 yr Author Added a cable for the BSLs and now I can see the total cycles, 1 cycle to discharge and recharge. Hoping when I replace them my beard will be grey or Ill be grey if I replace them sooner than that 😂
September 13, 20223 yr Author Eventually got down to adding a heatpump for the 250L geyser, eskom usage is now down to 2.5kw - 3kw per day. From my previous 50-60kw this is a big win for me. Heat Pump is a Kwikot HP007, uses about 1900 watts and can heat water up to 75 degrees I have mine set to 68 degrees. It takes the same time to heat as the element in the geyser which was 4400 watts however the element was set to lower temp of 60 degrees. Water is hot in 2 hours sometimes less. Now to bite bullet and add the third BSL Edited September 13, 20223 yr by Treschen
September 14, 20223 yr Looking good, I have got my usage between 2-3 kw a day, geyser is set to go on at 10:30 and by 12 it is at 65 degrees. I have got 20 tubes with solar pump, inverter is a SunSynk. My bonus is a I can export in the estate. So my bill for September is R0 so far

I hope to see the day that COJ allows us to export to grid.
September 27, 20223 yr Author Down to an average of 3.4kw per day from Eskom for this month! Currently at 94kw for the month. Seeing the benefit of the Sunsynk now 😎
