August 2, 20223 yr I have a pylontech Up5000 batterynd trying to decide if its better to partial cycle the battery each day or keep at full charge for loadshedding.Ideally i want to partial cycle to save on electicity costs and if theres loadshedding then the battery can discharge further till loadshedding ends for example.Hoping infoncan be shared on what is the best way to setup to extend life of battery but also save on electricity costs. August 3, 20223 yr You paid for the battery, you may as well use it (assuming you have solar). I'd cycle it each day.

If one uses a battery only for LS it is a waste of keeping it charged for the 2hrs a week of LS. Average over the last 3yrs. Further the battery has a life made up of cycles. Each time it is discharged and charged some life is taken away. So using to save on power and getting a long life is on opposite sides of the fence. Strike a balance between the 2.
August 3, 20223 yr Cycle your battery, keeping it above 20% to help with battery life. If you do this daily, you'll most likely "pay off" your battery in 5-7 years. (depending on electricity tariff hikes). Then when you know there is loadshedding, keep your battery above 50 - 70%(depending on your consumption) to make sure you make it through loadshedding.

Hopefully someone that has a pylontech can help with the settings
August 3, 20223 yr Manufacturer indicates to charge at 52.5-53.5V Table indicating life cycle. Stick in the 25-85% SOC. Take it up to 100% to allow balancing to take place say every 2 months. Just my guess. Edited August 3, 20223 yr by Scorp007

Just my guess With the pylon you have to take it to 100% daily - both for warranty purposes, and also because the balance current is so weak, you have to do it daily to keep them balanced. Im not sure if this invertor can be connected see pictures these are the available ports on the battery and invertor .Can the COM port be used if so what cable will I need and where can I obtain this or if there is anyone around JHB south that can help setup that would also be appreciated.

Daily cycle and usage down to 30-40% SOC average every mornings. Have had infrequent 20-30% SOC and also two shutdowns at 20% SOC.
