Beta Tester O N L Y AXPERT MAX 7.2KW MPPT improvement

Featured Replies

BETA FIRMWARE for Axpert max 7,2KW  (with removable Display )

(Based on  90.19).

(This Firmware is not testet !!!!!!!!!!!!! )

If you have a clone be careful (Error F90 is active in this release)

MPPT minimum Voltage is now 200V (if someone need this limit lower >>> let me know)

Most improvments are in low light and startup without direct sun (90V limit &  Power reduction below 0,6A MPPT input current)

if someone succesfully test this version please report here.

Use at your own risk

@Georg594

I flashed the 100V version on my Max I 7.2Kw.

It was at the end of the day and I was already on 90V on both MPPT's (fw 90.28).

After flashing the V shot up to ~240V on both and total W went up from 87W to 320W.

Kudos to you for that!

Can you explain what's the difference between the 100V and 200V version?

The 7.2KW I used was purchased from a regular channel. My device once appeared F90. I tried to update this firmware, and now the inverter starts to work. Does this mean the problem has been solved?😀

Georg may have defeated the fault code 90 logic; it's a single word patch.

But if so, it may or may not be masking a problem with an intermittent or faulty EEPROM chip. Watch it carefully for settings being forgotten, readings not agreeing with a multimeter, and other odd behaviour.

Edit: It might also mean that your EEPROM is intermittent, and the new firmware had nothing to do with it. Fault code 90 turning up on totally legitimate (known non-clone) machines has happened before. The logic is so tricky that sometimes the code just seems to get it wrong, or they don't program the EEPROM correctly at the factory. There are ways to check that fault code 90 won't happen, so they should be checking this at the factory.

Hi there I have a voltronic inverter axpert max 7.2

Please can you share a patch that suits my setup

Inverter 1 has a 430voc system connected

Inverter 2 has a 240voc system connected

Additionally if you have any instructions on how to flash the firmware, this would be great!

First Release for 7.2KW Axpert

Firmware still based on 90.19

It got the same improvements like my 8KW version except the Shade Management.

Mppt minimum voltage is set to 120V (the new range is 120V to 450V)

Firmware shows up as  90.20

Thanks, I will flash it and test.

What is the difference between this one and the 100V one? Why is this one 120V?

Hi,

At least 120V seems to work best with no hardware modification.

the value of 120V is taken for maximum compatibility.

(In the 8kw thread, a 100V firmware does not bring the greatest improvement, it works best from around 115V)

Thank you that's amazing!! My system has 2 units in parallel, please can you share the procedure for flashing them,

Do they need to be off, etc

Thank you for that. I have looked through everything however nothing tells me what to do with the other inverter while flashing.

I have 2 inverters in parallel mode. Can I isolate 1 inverter (solar, AC in, and AC out). And flash the inverter while the other one is still running?

Or should I isolate both inverters and continue?

Everything else seems easy enough

You can flash while the other is still running. Do check after flashing the 2 if Master and Slave is still as you want it.

I thought that you could always do that, but a few days ago when updating a pair of inverters like that, the non-flashing inverter stopped with fault code 80 or some such. Maybe you can only flash the slave (and you can manipulate which one is the slave by turning on the one you want to be master first).

Please let us know how it went.

Hi Coulomb.

I attempted last night to flash the slave unit however when attempting the SL inverter as the flashing tool opens fault code 72 followed by 32 came up. These fault prevented a flash.

I stoped at this point, I will flash today with both units off load and revert back

UPDATE:

This morning i flashed the inverters, ensuring the house was empty in case of a power outage.

I first started to flash the slave inverter, as soon as the flashing commenced the master inverter shut down. YOU CAN NOT FLASH WHILE KEEPING THE POWER ON IN PARALLEL MODE!!

I continued and flashed both devices without fail. the U1 is now 90.20 on both devices and for the first time i can actually produce solar on a cloudy day. thank you for the assistance on this!!

Works fine up until now.

Any news on the Shadow Management project?

@Coulomb Does this contain your premature float bugs patch too?

I don't think so; Georg doesn't tend to do them. But it's easy to do. Two bytes to patch (one for version number, one for the actual branch instruction opcode that has the wrong condition).

Above the 90.19 firmware has been used, but the dsp.hex is quite old: it is from 11 dec 2020.

To my knowledge the newest usable firmware is 45.07 which is dated 9 april 2021

(a newer 90.28 exists of 22 sep 2021, but that one is not bug free)

I don't know if you are still very busy and dealing with your broken inverter, but

could you @Coulomb make a patched 45.07 with your and @Georg594's patches?

Or does anyone have a newer firmware for the MAX 7200K that we can use?

I'll make time tomorrow to do at least some patches, likely including one based on 45.07.

Any update for us MAX 7200 users?
