Kodak OG 5.48 strange intermittent ringing sound

Featured Replies

Ever since I got the Kodak OG 5.48 it occasionally has a ringing sound. The attached audio file below was recorded on an iPhone about 15cm from the unit, but it is quite noticeable several meters away. Luckily it's in my workshop and I only notice it a few times a day, and then only for about 20 seconds at a time for a few cycles, with only the occasional fan noise about 99% of the time. I have not found any correlation with fan, load, input or anything else. My supplier/installer says its normal, but it would not be acceptable if it was anywhere closer to where I spend more time. Any thoughts?

I don't think it should be normal. I've had the OG+ 5.48 since June and I've never heard that noise. I am off-grid so don't have eskom, maybe that's where the problem lies.

@Steve87is around these units a lot. Steve, does that sound 'normal' to you?

Mine does the same. I have two in different sites, but the one is making this whiney sound. Problem is I can't RMA it because I work from home and loadshedding means I need it 24/7

Have you had any luck resolving the problem? I have 2 of the OG5.48 inverters, one about a year old and quiet, but my new one which I have for about 1 month now and which I've only started up yesterday has this high pitched noise as soon as grid power is connected.  When it is running from battery it is quiet.
