November 15, 20223 yr Good day all, I am new to the forum. I recently had a back up system installed, Luxpower 5kw inverter and Dyness 4.8kwh Li-ion battery. Please have a glance at my installation and let me know if any pointers/recommendations? Thank you

November 15, 20223 yr Hi Mdu Welcome to the forum and to not having to worry about LS 🙂 Luxpower and Dyness are decent items. Your installer seems to have taken some short cuts that will compromise the integrity of the install - as pointed out by @Antonio de Sa you need to have DC fuses between the Inverter and battery. The breakers on the right of the pic are also usually enclosed in an electricly safe box so that they are not activated by mistake or cause electric shocks to users. these 2 things need to be remedied at the very least
November 15, 20223 yr If this is inside a garage, make sure you've got clearance for swinging car doors and foot traffic.
November 15, 20223 yr Author Thank you very much all, and do you only get a COC after panels are installed or should it also be issued just with a back up system? Edited November 15, 20223 yr by Mdu Dube

If the AC supply to your inverter comes directly from your main DB and the AC output from the inverter feeds back to your DB, you need a COC, other thing to look for and one cannot see from your Picture is the size of the wiring, depending how far the inverter is from your main DB, to work out the voltage drop, taking in consideration that is a 5 KW inverter it has to be at least 6 mm2.

You need your COC now presuming the system is live. The installer can issue a supplementary COC once the panels have been installed. Somethings to look out for. Have surge arrestors been installed in the main DB. Is the inverter feeding all circuits or only those you have identified as being essential during load shedding. Has your installer explained to you how your system is protected, e.g. at what point of discharge will your battery shut down: how do you isolate your inverter / battery should you need to, etc.
November 16, 20223 yr Shouldn't there be an earthing cable to the battery as well? I'm not seeing that in the photos.
