Posted January 13, 20232 yr This might be a dumb question, suppose I already have a battery, charger and inverter. Is there an ATS that can switch fast enough from grid -> battery such that my PC will not shut-off? We're talking ~10ms transfer time. I can't seem to find anything so I think I'm looking for the wrong thing here. Would be nice to not have to shutdown my PC, wait for power to go off, then plug in the inverter and turn it back on. Either way, I'm not aware of anything that would do this for you fast enough to prevent the PC from restarting...

If it's an Axpert (they are made under many brand names), you could try changing setting 03 to UPS; with that setting, it supposedly switches in 10 ms, otherwise, it's 20 ms. The default is APL (for appliances), which allows a wider range of AC input voltages, meaning that they can't use the SCRs to help switch to/from utility faster. However, if your AC input is regularly under 170 VAC, then you may not get good use of utility power. If your inverter isn't an Axpert, it's unlikely that there is a similar option.
