January 23, 20233 yr I have a feeling I've been down this path before. I would like to be able to change the mode ('general','economical' etc) remotely, and if switching to economical mode be able to change the charging start & finish times. ISTR that some folks are able to do this via SEMS (maybe the app, maybe in the browser, either will work for me), but I for the life of me cannot. Is it in fact possible. If so I think I need to bug Goodwe.
January 23, 20233 yr Hi @Bobster. I can. But I have installer privileges in my User associated with the Sems portal. I really don't know if with only User privileges it will be possible to access both the work modes and advanced configurations. Edited January 23, 20233 yr by Cef

I'm guessing the guys who did my installation have those privileges on mu inverter.
January 23, 20233 yr @Bobster. Yap.. that's a problem. Only Goodwe will be able to respond in accordance with the commercial policy commitments with distributors/installers. You know that the world works like this unfortunately (you can take work away from them!). Removing that aspect so "interested and earthly", I do not see any problem in raising the privileges of any User because if you want to enter the advanced configuration from the SEMS PORTAL App there is a good "disclaimer" that you must accept for each entry and you are responsible for eventual damage to the power inverter due to eventual inexperience. I take this opportunity to tell you that, according to what a Goodwe engineer informed me, they are transferring all the configuration of the inverters without display to the SolarGo application (you can download it now), so it is possible that in a short time the same thing will happen with PV Master as with EzManage. SolarGo allows you local control (same as the PV master) and remotely invokes the Sems Portal application.
January 27, 20233 yr In my case I use home assistant and I have the same problem. I would like to automate the inverter mode change to be able to change my batteries to the cheapest hours of electricity, but it does not work for me. Has anyone got it?

I managed to do this via SEMS app on iPhone. It looks like a Beta function, but it works. I have attached screenshots 1 - Click on devices 2 - Click on Configure 3 - Accept disclaimer 4 - Screen similar to PV Master options
April 23, 20233 yr Author OK... Goodwe managed to give me the installer privileges I need. This was a bumpy road, but we got there. I now get that configuration button in the Sems Portal app. Problem now is changing the modes. If the inverter is in eco mode already, this shows on the app, and I can access the mode. First problem: All the rules (charge from this time to that time) are shown as turned off. I can access these, change times and %ages, and those changes take effect (I can see them using the Solar Go app). But I can't change mode (EG from eco to general), and I can't turn on any of the rules for eco mode. When I try to do those things I get an error message "Timeout, please retry". Maybe this is a firmware issue. If I can't actually change modes or modify eco mode remotely, then this is no real use to me. So I get this far I changed the 15:00 to 16:00 rule from 80 to 81%. This gets picked up by Solar Go (or PV Master). What I can't do is turn any of those sliders on. They now all show as off in Solar Go, and if I try to turn them on in SEMS I get this. Every time. Which leaves eco mode selected, but all four rules turned off. Which is not much use. Edited April 23, 20233 yr by Bobster. Forgot to insert link
April 23, 20233 yr Author PS. Has anybody with this configuration button available tried to use it? Were you able to change modes and to have the changes actually take effect?
April 23, 20233 yr Hi. I use PV Master to make these changes. Use SEMS and off site only to switch to Backup mode if its an emergency. I also use my Unifi Router VPN to use my PV master app when not in my house. This is helpfull for more detailed changes

To be honest, for me SEMS is for reporting And in emergency make changes. PV master is to make changes. But I must say, recently both have been bad. Inhave logged tickets but no joy.

May 25, 20233 yr Goodwe asked me to open the port TCP 20001 on my router, which I have done but it hasn't worked yet. The SEMS App Configure tab seems to need more attention. Does it actually work for anyone?
June 23, 20232 yr Came to this site via Google. I have a Goodwe inverter that's recently stopped allowing me to change working modes. Since install last year was able to do this. I'm not an installer. It was super useful for putting into Backup mode during cyclones and I was experimenting with Eco Mode which would allow me to charge from the grid at certain times (e.g. if I switched to a power plan with a free hour of power). I am now stuck in purgatory with my inverter charging my battery every night for the test interval I set up - costing me money. I now simply get "Operation failed. Please try again", also the working mode and DOD display fields show --. Edited June 25, 20232 yr by square_eyesNZ
June 23, 20232 yr Where do you try make the change? Sems portal or PVMaster or SolarGo? Sems portal seems iffy in making changes, try SolarGo (you have to be logged onto same WiFi network which inverter is connected to)
June 23, 20232 yr SEMS Portal is getting a revamp apparently as it def is iffy and doesn't permit Configuration Changes. SolarGo and via Tech Suppor only way to update parameters.
June 25, 20232 yr I'm using SEMS which worked (changing working mode) up until a week or two ago. I tried PV Master but it's asking for an installer login to do anything but view stats. I'll try Solar Go. Honestly, my gut feel is this is a bug or some back end service going down/changing. Edited June 25, 20232 yr by square_eyesNZ
June 25, 20232 yr Solar Go wants an installer login too. Funny enough. When I'm on Solar Go or PV Master it tells me I'm on General Mode. This is not true as evidenced by the fact my battery charges from the grid each night at 10pm for 30 minutes which was a test I set up in Eco Mode. I rebooted the inverter again out of desperation but it seems stuck this way.
June 25, 20232 yr I believe Eco mode indicates as such when in the Time period you have set it to Charge or Discharge. In your case, take a look at 2215 to confirm. Outside of that it will default to General mode. In your case take a look again at any time before 2200 or after 2240 to confirm. Edited June 25, 20232 yr by ReinhartS
June 25, 20232 yr Author Thanks all for the interesting updates. I am not alone! And it's comforting to know that.
June 25, 20232 yr @Reinhart I'm not trying to find out if I'm in Eco Mode. I know I'm in Eco Mode. I can't set any other mode. I'm stuck in Eco Mode.

I see, that's strange. Eco mode when used smartly is actually very good. I recommend you inform your installer or go direct to GW tech support for them to help set as you wish. Until the new SEMS is released, seems there are going to be all sorts of challenges.

You should be able to change modes using SolarGo or PVMaster as long as you are connected to the same WIFI router as the inverter. I use SolarGo to change modes, but I can only do it when I'm at home, on the same local WIFI network as the inverter is.

Within Eco mode there are four rules that each be set to charge or discharge for a certain time period (day of week, start time, end time). And each can be turned off. If you turn them all off, you're effectively in general mode.
