July 22, 20241 yr Thank you for all the great info in this thread. Wondering if I could ask a qq or 2 please. I connected to my master battery using the 6.1 software, as described, and have attached what I see. I didn't seem to need a password. When I used a password, nothing seemed to change. I adjusted the config file to read 2 batteries and was then able to see both packs. Do the charge-discharge cycles seem high for a 1 year old system (1518/1503) and I wonder why they're not identical? Thanks again for all the info. It's a shame this isn't exposed to and by the inverter. P.S. I used this cable https://solar-assistant.io/shop/products/pace_rs232 Edited July 23, 20241 yr by splunker

August 28, 20241 yr I hope this will help if there are still some people on this threat. I bought a 14.3kwh Volta stage 4 battery from Leading Lithuim beginning 2024. They have sent me the attach firmware upgrades and I hope this will help. They only blind spot I have is will I need to take the battery offline before upgrade the software? stage 3 updater.zip Volta firmware updater stage 1 & 2 new.zip
August 28, 20241 yr I have the stage 4 firmware but it is too large to post here. Please sent me a email adress so I can sent it to anybody that need it. I have version 13.8A
August 29, 20241 yr Good Morning Do I need to shut down the system to upgrade the battery BMS firmware?
September 12, 20241 yr I had 2x Volta Stage 1 batteries in parallel since May 2023 with firmware v15.44. They were reaching 100% charge together with all cells balanced within 30mV, but the packs SoC drifted apart as the batteries drain, with pack 1 on 25% while pack 2 drops to 20%. The state of health on pack 1 was 100% and pack 2 96%, so pack 2 is now accumulating higher DoD. The supplier suggested I need a firmware update, so last night I updated them both to v15.58 successfully (each completely isolated and dip switches off), have yet to see if the SoC drift fixes itself but at least the inverter reports the average SoC instead of alternating between the 2 like it did before. Only possible issue is the cycles count for both batteries went up 10x and I'm not sure if that is just the new scaling factor is 0.1 instead of 1? Over a period of about 10 minutes pack 1 went from 260 to 2600 and pack 2 from 249 to 2498 and then they stayed there since, will give it a couple more days and see.
September 17, 20241 yr Hi. I'm struggling with my setup.. Deye5kw and 2x Volta Stage1 Pro batteries. I turned everything off, connected battery power cables, disconnected the comms cable from the inverter, then connected the link cable into the one battery IN port, the other end into the other battery OUT port, and connected the comms cable to the PCS port on the battery where the OUT port is now occupied. Turned on the battery with the PCS one first, the leds do a good green KITT impression and settle. Then I turn on the second battery, both batteries doing a Cylon impression with the green lights switching left right and eventually settling. I turn on the inverter and it starts up after about 2 mins. I am not able to communicate proppperly over the canbus to read the battery states. The LCD on the inverter doesn't show two batteries. These batteries don't have dip switches and are aparently smart and can set their bus address themselves. What am I doing wrong? There are no instructions on how to connect the second battery of this type. The Deye and Solarman apps allow control sort of. I'm worried I'm damaging the batteries. Please can someone advise
October 1, 20241 yr Just got a new system installed with 5kw Deye inverter and 2*stage1 Volta battery. Facing a weird issue, where everything works fine, but when the battery reaches 100% Soc the BMS page on the inverter stops displaying the Charge/ discharge values. When the sun goes down, the inverter pulls from the Grid instead of the batteries. Then I have to manually restart the battery and then the inverter starts pulling from the battery. Has anyone had similar issues? Should I try to update the battery ?
October 31, 20241 yr Anyone that has the latest firmware for the Stage 1? Would also like to know if there is an update for the Stage 4 since in the year I have had mine I see it only goes up to 98% and it had one drop out a couple of months ago.

January 11, 20251 yr I own a Wulills 5kWh battery with a Vkingner BMS, which is the same as in the Volta. BMS Tools works, but I'm struggling with connecting the battery with my Victron Multiplus II GX and with my other battery with a JK BMS. I've tried many protocols using BMS Tools, both CAN and RS485 but without success. I used the pin-layout suggested by the Volta manual shared in this thread.
May 22, 20251 yr I've reverse engineered some of the RS232 communication with my Wullils BMS. I expect that this script also works with the Volta BMS. Feel free to try and improve the code: https://github.com/iisquazar/Vkingner-QDT-Wulills-BMS/blob/main/qdt10wd-to-mqtt All you need is a raspberry and run the python3 script. It will report measurements via the commantprompt and via MQTT if you have a working MQTT broker.
June 1, 20251 yr A colleague made the below home-assistant compatible add-on for data retrieval from the BMS via the master battery's RS232 port:https://github.com/Tertiush/bmspace
