October 6, 20232 yr Hi I wanted to find out if this is possible with the SunSynk inverters. I have 2 microinverters, 1.5Kw and a 1.2Kw which are currently working. I want to install a 5Kw SunSynk inverter, but I would like to use the microinverters to either feed the essentials or non-essential loads. So I know you can connect micro-inverters via the aux port but from what I understand is this will only help charge the battery (I might be wrong). What I was thinking of doing is connecting the micro-inverters directly to the DB's. I am just not sure how this will effect the SunSynk inverter. If anybody has doe this or knows if this will work please let me know.
October 6, 20232 yr Aux port or gen port will work. You need to configure the Sunsynk & will need up to date firmware to allow it to work. The Inverter will frequency shift to turn the Micro inverter off. This can also be done with a Grid tied inverter & the Sunsynk.
October 6, 20232 yr Best of all with AC coupling this system is that even when the Grid is down you are able this get an output from the Micro or Grid tied inverter.
October 6, 20232 yr If you connect your grid-tie inverters straight to the DB (assuming/pending municipal approval, etc), between the incoming mains feed and the CT coil, then you just wouldn't have any function when the grid goes down. On a 5kW Sunsynk I'd suggest using only one of these inverters on the AUX port, considering the sum exceeds 50% of the inverter's rated capacity. Random layman's 2c.
October 6, 20232 yr Author Thanks for the feedback @Steve87 and @GreenFields, I was also thinking of adding them to the essentials DB as this would keep the micro-inverters running during load shedding. @Steve87 I saw a video of Keith saying that if it is a grid tied system it wont do the frequency shift as it has to sync with the grid. Also when you say you have to "configure" the SunSynk what settings should I be setting. Will the SunSynk be able to supply the loads directly if connected to the Aux port? Connect the grid tie inverters to the Aux port... this is how the Sunsynk inverter was designed.
October 7, 20232 yr One can clearly see in this solar assistant dashboard: Grid is gone, but the Aux port generating solar PV. The Grid tied Kodak is AC coupled.
