June 12, 20241 yr Can anyone recommend a wall panel heater brand for my child's room? It is a small room, about 5 by 5 and I think a good panel heater will work well for a toddler.

Maximum temp is lower than element type. Lower fire hazard but yes most panel heaters will work but 5x5 is not a small room by most standards 😀 these days. Edited June 12, 20241 yr by Scorp007
June 12, 20241 yr I agree with @Scorp007 i recently purchased the Milex PTC fan Heater for R499 very efficient heating with low and high setting.

June 12, 20241 yr Agreed, fan heaters are much more effective at heating a room For kids rooms especially, just ensure a tip over cut out protection for such heaters. Wallmount convection heaters are also good, but cost quite a bit more.

These electric devices use semiconductors made of other material instead of resistance coils like traditional models do which makes them incredibly efficient while providing low-level warmth. Plus—with no open flames or exposed wiring—they are much safer than some other types of heating systems out there, so you can rest easy knowing everyone in your family will stay safe when using them.

Also not more efficient than resistive heating, because they are still resistive heaters, just not a fixed resistance - the resistance goes up with temperature (PTC = positive temperature coefficient). Off course, the nichrome used in regular heaters technically are also PTC, but with a very, very low coefficient. Edited June 13, 20241 yr by P1000

June 13, 20241 yr As we still have an old type freezer we used our PTC on low temp low fan speed to defrost the freezer. This worked like magic in a short time. We bought ours about 8 yrs ago. Very happy with it. Edited June 13, 20241 yr by Scorp007
