December 14, 20241 yr Hi All, I wanted to know if it's possible to see the non essential load on the sunsynk app or inverter itself, at the moment I only have battery connected to inverter and not solar panels at the moment. I have zero export ticked and also limit to load ticked. I am now not sure if this will only work once I have solar installed. Regards,

Regards, You can see all the data under System Flow Chart at any given moment. Even at night when there is no solar the house icon will show the non essential use as per this pic.

I believe I read on the forum that we must have a "Limit load" unticked before we can see the non-essential usage. I've attached pictures with "Limited to load" ticked. It looks like it just shows the essential load and not the non-essential load. Attached are pictures with "Limit to load" unticked and the difference is it now shows a -watts

The minus reading to the essential is of them. Also the grid use looks odd. Are you sure the CT is installed with the arrow pointing to the inverter?

Attached are pictures with "Limit to load" unticked and the difference is it now shows a -watts This looks like an issue with the CT (or the data provided by the CT to the inverter) Where is it installed (it should be installed on the main grid incoming hot/live line before any load and the arrow on the CT should point away from grid and to the inverter) and how far is it from the inverter (more than 10 meters impacts the signal and can cause errors in the data provided by the CT to the inverter) On the system mode 2 screen, what is the inverter power limiter set to? You should select Zero Export only and deselect limit to load.

The battery is charging 40W and the essential is using 380W then the grid use as per the CT cannot only be about 30W. The above when there is an Aircon running on non essential? What am I missing?

I agree with you, the numbers make no sense. I am guessing that the inverter is being fed data from the CT that it cannot correctly interpret. Edited December 21, 20241 yr by I84RiS

December 21, 20241 yr The arrow on my CT points away from the inverter and yet everything is being reported correctly: production, consumption, import, and export. Solar Assistant also reports everything correctly. Why worry whether export is allowed or not allowed? There’s nothing to export.

The CT is important for other functions as well, by example if you want to use PV to supply power to items on the non essential circuit you can do so with the CT correctly set up. Normally the items that use the most power are on the non essential circuit therefore having the ability to use PV to power these items is a major cost saver ito energy cost and getting the most out of the inverter It might be that your CT is pointing the "wrong way", but it the numbers displayed on the inverter is correct then ir is very likely that the two wires connecting the CT to the inverter have also been swapped around, so it might appear to be the wrong way around but in actual fact it is not.
December 21, 20241 yr It was installed by an electrician who does a lot of solar so I’d hope they know how to install a CT. My comment about zero export was related to their being no PV so nothing to generate power. Solar Sell checked or unchecked shouldn’t matter since there’s nothing to export. No?

It's also for controlling the diversion of battery power towards non-essential loads in the presence of the grid, or for selling battery power to the grid. A scenario where it could be useful is with a time-of-use tariff, buy cheap to store and use or sell later during peak times. Other scenario if there's Eskom load reduction, if you want to keep using the stove or geyser on non-essential. I'd just put it in anyway. Edited December 22, 20241 yr by GreenFields
December 21, 20241 yr Limit to Load, if it works like the Deye Zero Export to Load, uses an internal CT to measure loads flows in and out of the various terminals. It can’t distinguish non-essential loads from the grid. Only the essential and smart loads get measured. Everything in and out of the grid terminals is just import and export because no external CT is used. With Limit to Load not checked it’s probably the same as the Deye Zero Export to CT which uses internal CTs to measure loads on the 3 terminals and an external CT to measure non-essential loads. The inverter knows how much power its sending out on the grid terminals and it knows how much power is going to the grid via the external CT, so it can calculate how much is consumed by non-essential loads.
