July 19, 20251 yr Has anyone placed there rasberry pi insdie there invter to power it?If so have few questions.Where have you connected the pi to power.. did you connect it to battery terminal or did you find a 5v rail?How have you secured it insdei the invter?Does it invalidated your warrenty doing it his way? Do you have any pictures of such.As I have just had my install done but it is all outside and only way is to place the pi inside the invter and find a power rail / use battery rail to power it using a buck convter .Many thanks for looking and your replies.
July 20, 20251 yr To get anything inside that inverter means breaking the seals and thus voiding the warranty. That's before you make any internal connections. I think I see a WiFi dongle there. Almost certainly there's a port for an ethernet connection. So you have ways to connect the PI to the inverter via LAN. If you need access to the PI then you have to crack the inverter open. LAN is the win here.

July 20, 20251 yr Author Think that is what I will have to do, is encase the pi in a ip rated box. Only other question is where can I pull power from the invter to power the pi, as I have no power sockets out side.Many thanks

July 20, 20251 yr Author The buck convyer is 10V - 60VSo what would be best way to power the pi.As u can tell I'm very new only had it installed and don't want to void warrenry or make it go bang.. and unsure where to locate a power source to power up the pi.

As for the warranty of the installation, you would need to make sure with your installer that they are ok with you adding in a monitor. Should not be a problem as you will not be changing the way the system was installed. But check anyway just to be sure :)

July 20, 20251 yr Not sure of your model, but my 12kW Sunsynk inverter has a 12V connection (Pins 11 and 12) that should be just what you need - just confirm in your user/installation manual...See screenshot from my manual below. Hope this helps 🙂

Hope this helps 🙂Actually I have never thought of checking the other terminals for output voltage.I have 5.5k sunsynk similar to the @WelshDragon80 image.I am off to find my multi-meter and go check :)
July 20, 20251 yr Author The invter I have is the Sunsynk 7kW ECCO HybridInverter I will have to go down load the manual and see if there is such on mine as that be so much easier

AFAIK all inverters you have to open something in order to connect wiring

July 20, 20251 yr Author A friend did suggest that but I'd rather screw them on so I know nice and tight... I'd just have to see if any of my electrical friends will do it for me.So come to the conclusion put the pi in a ip rated outdoor box next to the invyer and run some conduit to from said box to invter to protect from the rain and weather.Would the pi be OK in a ip rated box, as I have the pi in a case with fan.. it would run too hot?
