Solar Assistant Licence

Yip, I saw that too. It was a bug in the system a while back but now they are going forward in that direction.

The costs is minimal though at $14 per year.

That being said, I upgraded from the Pi3b from 4 years ago to the new Pi5 2.4Ghz unit. I made payment on Thursday at 14:30 and the new Pi was delivered the following morning at 8am. Amazing service indeed. And the quality of the product and packaging is exceptional.

You have the option now.
Perpetual use remains - a one-time purchase still grants you lifetime use of SolarAssistant.

You can opt out to continue using your original license terms: one device, non-transferable, with free lifetime updates.

Anyone opted out

I opted out. The current software gives me pretty much all the essentials. Can always sign up to the new paid version once I see some snazzy new additions.

I've been on Beta ever since I started with SA.

There's two new features that I like, one is the PV Forecast for the day, they added a Cell Imbalance metric on the battery stats. If they can pull more Battery stats from the inverter that would be awesome. I can't use the battery cables on the Dyness as I had with the BSL battery.

Cool functionality: There's finally Dark Mode 😎 for the Dashboards, all Charts now align to the times, you also get a a cross-section on all graphs if you point to a specific point on any of them. Totals now show 2 x decimal places.

Really not badly priced for their licensing structure R419 for 2years = R17.46 a month, less than buy a 2L Coke a month 🤪

Also been on Beta for most of my install and its worked great with no issues at all. Understand their logic - only wish it included free critical updates

I have also been on the beta since 2023, I have logged into the Account but don't see any mention of payment or to opt out?

So some of us fortunate enough - me included - who got this new Beta that has the PV Forecast in it, will only be prompted to license at the next Stable release.
Not all Beta enabled users/devices received this Beta and as such are delayed from receiving the request to subscribe to license...at this point.

What Dyness battery model are you using?

Dyness Powerbox Pro - already checked with SA about it as well.

"With all the battery models below, if an inverter is already reading them via CAN then SolarAssistant can not read them via RS485 at the same time. Set SolarAssistant to "Use inverter values"."
