I have a dual Victron Multi II 3kva setup with 250vMPPT and a stack of pylons. I recently purchased a house and will lily have the opportunity to move my setup before my previous house sells. The new house has a sunsync 5kw. I am seriously considering taking my existing setup and just swapping it. Any ideas/Suggestions? Existing setup is mounted on a wooden panel so should be "fairly" simple to swap.

You don't mention the most crucial part - the solar panels 🙂

This amounts to whether you should swap the Victron kit for the Sunsynk. This will give you an extra 2kW on the backed up side. Do you have a particular preference for the Victron gear?

What's the situation with batteries? You have those where you are now, but at the new place?

For me, it goes without saying , I would swap the system.

The resale and long-term value of two 3kva Victron MultiPlus-II units combined with a Victron 250V MPPT is significantly higher, and in my experience, so is the overall build quality.

Running the two MultiPlus-II units in parallel also gives you more available output power than a single 5kW Sunsynk. On top of that, you gain true redundancy , two inverters instead of one. If one unit has an issue, the system can continue operating at reduced capacity rather than going completely offline. From both a quality and system design perspective, it’s a stronger setup.

I have the batteries where I am now. WIll want to take them with. If not all of them maybe just two UP5000's. can always add again to that. that will leave 3 us3000's

Victron system is superior in terms of reliability, durability and efficiency.

They are hardly affected by poor grid, weather or inferior electrical appliances

They will last longer. Very long.. Have one inverter thats been running since 2011 at my parents place

Self power consumption is also very very low compared to sunsynk. My 8kw Sunsynk would use max 71watts whilst now my 2 x multis 2 5kva use just 37watts.

Surely 34W standing load on a 8kW system that can on average over a year produce 40kWh a day(Gauteng) is counting the last cent in the wallet every day.

OK. I am going to leave the systems where they are and just add to the new installation... To many things that can go wrong during removals and swaps etc..

Just get an electrician to remove the equipment and install it at the new place. Nothing can go wrong. Just isolate the breakers/isolators and remove them. The panels can stay VOC and wont care.
