  3. Hi, I understand that some Sunsynk's 10.65 kwh are BYD and some are CATL and they are not cross compatible. Is there any physical way of telling them apart?
  4. In my case the voltage drop during loadshedding was significant enough to notice a fan slow down. There are plus sides to using a lower voltage, e.g. at 220v all the appliances work however it uses a lower wattage. It means that the battery can last longer for appliances.
  5. I have changed my inverter to output 230v-3p from the originally set 220v-3p. The voltage drop during loadshedding is not significant for the appliances. For example, a fan now does not noticeably slow down. My grid voltage at home, measured by the inverter, fluctuates between 235v and 245v. So the 230v-3ph on the inverter suits my application.
  6. That's interesting ... will need to have this checked.
  7. Hi ... the whole house is on the essentials circuit, with a 12kw 3p Sunsynk. I rarely use more than 6 or 8 kw at any one time across all three phases. During loadshedding household demand is around 700w per hour. It's not that ... there is a relay in the light fitting which does not turn on when the grid is off. I found this very strange ....
  8. I have a light fitting which does not work when the grid is absent. The Sunsunk inverter pushes out 230v at 50hz and yet this light fitting only works when the grid is present. The light has three different settings: white, white partial, and blue which is rotated by switching the switch on and off in succession. Under loadshedding the light refuses to come on. Not sure why ... Other than that, I've had my inverter in place now for 1.5 years and not other hassle.
  9. Hi ... what inverter do you have. At 1.6kwp installed capacity you may not be generating enough voltage for the panels to work hard enough throughout the day, or your demand must be low. Please also post the panel size each and the number of panels.
  10. Hi @JacoG The lower speed on the fan is due to the drop in voltage. I am supplied by Eskom. The grid voltage ranges from 240v up to 248v at times. My inverter was set at 220v. When the grid goes down (load shedding), the voltage drops to 220v. The power output (watts) given the same amps is about 10% less than when the grid is present. The result is that motors slow down. Geysers take longer to heat etc.. I have since set my inverter on 230v. I also have a set of downlighters that flicker, but I think that has more to do with the dimmer switch.

  12. I'm using a Hubble AM2 and have had trouble with my unit. It started troubling after 6 months and eventually after much troubleshooting the firmware needed an update. Whilst I know many guys that are more than happy with Hubble, and some that swear by it, I definitely cannot recommend it if it goes wonky requiring a firmware update. Nothing else changed.

  14. When I sent my battery into Hubble last August, their technician at the Longmeadow (JHB) service centre used PBMS tools to show me the cell voltages and state of health. They may not want you to see for yourself, because that would mean more warranty claims? They have also taken away the SOH functionality from Cloudlink - from what I have read on other forums. How will one know the SOH of the battery? More dodgy stuff from Hubble.
  15. The 5kwh Sunsynk battery is not 200ah. Should be closer to 100ah.
  16. @brainbug Are you happy with your SolarMD 14.3kwh batteries? How old are they? Any issues?
