  1. Mien, I was also struck by lightning and lost my inverter, two batteries and whole lot of other stuff in the house. In my case the breaker tripped but still did not prevent the damage if that makes you feel any better. It sucks big time, but I spoke to several people and they say there is not much you can do to prevent the damage. What is strange is my panels where all fine, and I had a direct strike on the aerial on the roof.
  2. I have the same but only when there is load shedding. And this only happens with my downlights non dimmable.
  3. Bobster I was hit directly during this storm in JHB south on the 16th. It hit me on a old LTE antenna I still had on the roof and I suffered substantial damage. My inverter and two batteries were dead, house alarm, gate PC board, tv HDMI, TV Box, I have two routers one was plugged into two red surge protections (gone) the other one made it but was plugged into a UPS which did not make it. I also had a trickle charger plugged into my car battery, luckily the current never made it through to the car but my charger is caput. I also lost 3 day night switches and all the apple chargers that was plugged in (laptop and phone chargers). My electric fence energizer exploded and was almost ripped out of the wall. I had to replace my BMS on both my batteries and the manufacturer mentioned there was not much that can prevent this from happening with a ligning strike. It's crazy what lightning can do.
  4. I spent the 20k on extra panels when I did my install, summer works fine, 200l geyser and I replaced the element with a 3kw one and installed a geyserwise timer to take the geyser to 65 degrees. Geyser comes on at 10:00 and runs until 13:00. We are 4 people in the house, winter is another story I have to let the geyser run in the morning to have a hot shower.
  5. I see their website has been taken down as well.
  6. Thanks Jay, so setting the inverter to 230v did not solve the flickering lights?
  7. Almost all my down lights in my house flicker when off if there is no power from Eskom running on the inverter or just on the generator. Why is this happening? Another thing I have noticed is my fans in the house change speed when there is load shedding, It is audible and I can immediately hear they are running a bit slower when there is no Eskom feed is this also normal?
  8. I have 5 Installed at my house. They are not as bright as the normal Led flood lights so quite disappointed with my 30W one's. One has semi stopped working after 3 years it's on during the day and off at night. They do last the whole night but I notice they get dimmer as the night goes on if they had a good charge during the day.

Looks like everywhere panels are sold out. Are there any places with stock in the country?
  10. Like Antonio said you have to take the battery to them, however I had a known issue on one of my batteries, took it to them and it was back installed the same day, I waited a couple of hours for the repair.
  11. Yes try what greenfields said. Here is my settings: Edit: I must just mention my whole house is on essential so not sure if these will help with the non-essential side.
  12. I would say you have to tick time of use at the top. Also play around with the battery percentage to get the most out of your batteries.
  13. I managed to get my generator working with a single phase Deye inverter, what seems very strange to me is the generator will only charge the batteries to 20% after this it would just sit idle and only draw current if I switch on something drawing more than the PV production like my geyser. So it's almost as if the inverter will not draw from the generator if PV is available. Is this a setting or working as designed?
  14. My Deye inverter shuts down on 10% so I think Meerkat is right the BMS is not communicating correctly.
  15. Do a test and set your 6:00 to 9:00 timeslot to 25% and check if this helps with the purchasing you do in the mornings, also there will be continuous draw of 20w throughout the day as per your settings, this is for the pre-paid meters not to trip. At about 3:00PM and 4:00 PM there was a small time where PV production was less than consumption power.
  16. How much is your SOC at 6:00am? It looks like you are stuck at 25% from 6 to 9 therefore you are using grid to supplement your load.
  17. I saw the same yesterday, according to Solarman I used 0kw grid, but my pre-paid meter went down with 5 units.
  18. On this topic, I have now received the CIU-PH04 pre-paid device, what is the minimum I can set the inverter to continuously draw from the grid without tripping?
  19. Eldred, I started with that amount of money with phase 1 last year - 8kw inverter, 12 Panels and one battery. I swopped my 4kw geyser element for a 3kw and ran my geyser from 10:00 in the morning un summer. My take on it was I would rather spend the money for solar geyser on more pv and batteries later.
  20. Hi All, I am a bit concerned with my install. The installer mentioned that a DC breaker and pv breaker is not required as the Deye inverted has built in protection? Is this correct I looked at the documentation and they clearly mention the breakers. He has since received this money and probably won't come back to fix.
  21. Congrats, you are building quite a nice system there.
  22. I agree with Nexus rather spend the 24k on another battery if you have enough panels, replace your element on the geyser with a smaller one, and get your geyser to run on a timer during the day. I am saving close to R1500 a month with my setup.

Contact them on [email protected]. I think they need your solarman login and password.
  24. Kurt, the logger uses 2.4Mhz network which is very susceptible to interference. Maybe try to change the channel on your Router to something less digested. There are some apps you can use to scan your network and suggest a better channel. I use the home connect app for iphone.
  25. Hi MdF, Was there a way to get historic data into solar-assistant?
