You probably have unbalanced cells in that battery. I'm not sure what kind of balancer the SS bms's use but you can try keep the batteries at 100% SOC for 24 hrs and see if that helps. (not easy with current load shedding)

Who wants to give their energy away anyway when so many people are just stealing it. If you rent out a garden flat though you can put your own meter in there and get full rate for your PV.

Another idea is to run crypto miners with the excess PV. I'm sure you'll earn more than the feedin tariff. Run extension to your neighbour and charge them😂

They use a really good BMS. Not sure what cells they use though. They are good value for money.

That's the way to do it to keep the cells balanced and get your full capacity from your battery. Seplos BMS only balances when cells are full

21k looks about right then. Big portion of the cost is the roof hooks then. You not going to find cheaper that that I don't think. Only way to cut the cost a little is with the galvanised hooks

550W panels are normally around 49V and 13A. Max PV Watts for a 5K SS is 6500W I like bigger better. I would do 14x 550W on 2 strings of 7. That would be 7700W on a full sun day and the inverter might limit you a bit but in winter/overcast days you'll be happier

Panels will last 20+ years and so will aluminium. Galvanised roof hooks won't at the coast.

Rubicon sell a brand called lizard. It's a SA company. Their rails are pretty decent and not a bad price. Use stainless where you can.

You can get drop in 12v7ah lithium batteries for alarms and gate motors for R600. Just don't use it for 24v garage doors. As soon as the 2 batteries are unbalanced the door stops working.

I would use the seplos. Have a look at solar assistant to see the bms's that can work with sunsynk/deye

I would personally get the latest sunsynk battery on the market. That way you should be able to add the same batteries going forward

What inverter do you have? It is possible to mix batteries as long as they use the same number of cells. But you won't be able to have communication with your inverter. You can't go wrong with sunsynk batteries. They are good.

I've watched this guy. He has a huge collection. First American I have seen using Deye inverters that he says are not available in the US anymore. Crazy busbar he has for all those batteries.
