  1. Sorry to hear....Wishing you a speedy recovery!๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™
  2. If you were to add another 5kwh battery to the sungrow system it would be roughly R150k (so then both systems would have the same amount of usable energy as the dyness has a 95% DOD), which would make it R6000 more expensive. You would also need to account for the two additional panels on the other system, add these to the sungrow system and you are looking at roughly R156k. I am not sure about Sunsynk/Dyness combo but i know that with a deye/dyness combo you get a 10 year warranty on the inverter and battery.
  3. My pleasure, The price difference between 10kwh and 16kwh is negligible so 2x 16 kWh would be better value for money. If you wanted a larger battery bank, to best utilise it then more panels would be necessary. You are fortunate to have that much roof space with no shading! With the 12kw having 3 mppts you have plenty of flexibility. First prize would be to have all your panels on the north facing, next would be the east facing. I say the east facing as second best because on the flat roof you would want A-frame roof mounts which to my knowledge are quite a bit more expensive than the normal roof mounts, also when you say some are you meaning 3 panels or 6 panels. This is something you will just have to decide when looking at quotes. When it comes to sungrow, i would say they are slightly better quality and carry a 10 year swop out warranty (i would attribute most of their price to this) yes as they are an hv system you would incur less losses but at this scale they are negligible imo.
  4. My suggestion for a system if i had the choice of starting afresh and looking at your needs would be: 1x Deye 12kw Inverter 1x Dyness 16kWh Lithium Battery PowerBrick Max (note in offgrid mode you'll be limited to 10kw of power from your battery) 12x 620w panels (JA,Longi,Jinko,Trina are all good) out of interest what is the orientation of your roof? For a system like this you are looking at around R134k ex vat (dependent on your site though) Re exporting to the grid i am not too au fait with joburg export rules/tariffs, but with the described system if you have an electric geyser/ pool pump and discharge the battery at night i don't see you being able to export much anyway. Hope this helps.
  5. To your first question - I don't believe it is available on the mobile app. To your second question - which particular titles have peaked you interest? worst case scenario copy and paste into google and it should be able to explain. Its just super handy to have all this extra data in the case something goes wrong, helps to pinpoint the fault or time of irregularity.
  6. that is super strange, everything seems to be in order. what are your batteries currently at? you may aswell enable grid charge (your TOU has ensured as minimal grid usage as possible). Try disabling your "MPPT Multi-point Scanning" setting as you mention you don't get affected by shading. if this doesnt work, try turning your PV off and waiting until there is no voltage for pv on your inverter screen and then turn it back on.
  7. with regards to the system not prioritising charging the batteries, under system work mode 1 ensure that the energy pattern is set to "Batt First". Would be beneficial to post a screenshot of your system work mode's setttings.
  8. I'm a fan of the larger batteries, the only downside to the Deye 10.6kWh RW-G10.6 is that it is 0.5C. Naturally this is only an issue if the inverter is in off-grid mode with no PV, worst case scenario the inverter will 'trip' to remind you its only 0.5C. Hope that helps.
  9. Also look into Dyness, super cost effective . If im not mistaken CNBM does repairs to them if need be, they've got a bunch of warehouses across SA.
  10. @TaliaB They specify max continuous discharge current at 150A, surely this 0.5C is just a suggestion to get more than 6000 cycles out of the battery? If you had to set max discharge on the inverter at 180A thats only 60A on each battery. Just the way i interpret it๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ
  11. It's been a while, anyone got some interesting findings ie greater than expected savings (if so what have you attributed it to) or less savings than expected? Curious to see how others have maximized savings.
  12. What model Deye batteries do you have? I don't see batteries coming down in price for a while, they have reached a nice equilibrium price. If anything potentially a price increase due to increased raw material costs as well as the removal of the 6% vat rebate from Jan 2027 onwards. If you are able to and want to get more batteries i would suggest getting them sooner than later. If you are more budget conscious i would suggest rather getting 4 more panels and have two strings of 8 panels.

i am having a strange issue whereby after plugging in the wifi dongle, after a minute or so a bms fault appears. this bms fault lasts until i disconnect the dongle. any help would be appreciated/
  15. silly question but under system work mode are all days are ticked? try lowering your tou battery percentages and then also run a test by unticking grid charge under tou settings. bit of trial and error

So after some fault finding here are the preliminary finds: String 1 - all panels were damaged, three of which had a voltage reading of 16v and the rest 0v. String 2 - seems to have been an issue with the mppt which must have been damaged (same mppt that string 1 was on) String 3 - seems to be an insulation fault, these cables run in an underground pipe so i'm assuming string 1 has damaged these cables as well. it runs fine for a bit then the f24 error seems to arise. String 4 - for some reason now seems to be working fine but im not convinced. i will have to run new cable for these strings. would it be worth installing an earthmat then bonding each structure to each other and then taking a 50mm down to the earthmat to prevent future incidents like this? bit of a kick in the teeth but it is what it is๐Ÿ˜…

Hi all, Hope you are well. I have 4x strings of 16 panels in series, all of the issues arose after a heavy storm with lightning. String 1 - negative fuse blown String 2 - Positive fuse blown String 3 - Negative fuse blown all these fuses etc have been replaced. Issues ( All the strings have been switched off and testing has been done per string ) String 1 - At the breaker i am only reading +/- 60v, could this be that one of the panels has been damaged? String 2 - When the breaker is off i read the correct voltage that is 770v, when i put this breaker as well as the pv switch on the voltage drops to zero, could this be a damaged mc4? String 3 - I read the correct voltage of 770v but once the breaker and pv switch is on the inverter goes in F23 fault, could this be a damaged mc4? String 4 - I read the correct voltage of 770v but once the breaker and pv switch is on the inverter goes in F23 fault, could this be a damaged mc4? For additional context Strings 1+2 are usually on PV1 and Strings 3+4 are on PV2. When testing each string with the inverter i turned off the others. Any help would be much appreciated, Thank you.
  20. Hi all, i'm having a strange issue with a Deye 50kW. There is currently no pv and grid so running purely on batteries. There is nothing wrong with the start-up of the gen etc. The issue i'm having is that after the generator has started at 25% the generator turns off at 30%, this cycle repeats until the grid comes back. Under the TOU settings i have set the gen to run till the batteries are 100%. Has anyone had any experience with this issue? any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!
