DC mcb's for batteries
@kjbI wanted to ask you if this DC breaker has a positive and negative side? I am guessing that the switch side might need to turn off the positive but would like confirmation. If it can go either way then that would help, just need to match bottom and top polarity? Also I want to use this in a DIY battery so is this MCCB bi-directional, can the inverter charge the battery back through this or not?

What Cable thickness do I have
Moderate amount of swearing, I lost my sense of humor. I took the cable to Voltex and they said it was 35mm2 so I had to buy 50mm2. Fark it is a mission to get them into the 50mm2 lugs. I think it is how you cut and skin the cable, I use cable ties to try and keep the cables from "opening up" but still what a mission. Some went easy and some f@$;ng not.

What Cable thickness do I have
Is that just the copper part? I measured the copper with a vernier and it was 8.3mm diameter. So it sounds like it is 50mm2. Thank you

What Cable thickness do I have
I am building a DIY Apexium battery, using their cells and BMS and I have built a box. I have some battery cable but I am struggling to confirm what mm2 it is as I want to use 50mm2 inside the box between the BMS and the fuse and the terminals. What measurements should I be getting to confirm this is actually 50mm2 and not 35mm2. Otherwise I will need to take the cable to a place that sells the 50mm2 and compare it with that cable.

DC mcb's for batteries
I wanted to ask you on your MCCB is it very difficult to switch the switch, mine I have not connected it yet, so not sure if it requires to be connected, but I am unable to turn the switch from on to off. Currently it seems to be in the on position but I can push it down to off. I did email the suppliers and they said "This is a 250 amp breaker so will need some force to switch" I have my doubts. EDIT: Okay so I tried it again and this time I really pressed hard and it did switch so it does take quite a bit of force to switch from on to off.

Loan units of batteries and invertors.
Agree, but then they were not off setting their bill anyway, they have spent the money to maybe" not have load shedding", so they would have to decide do they want to wait for repair and have load shedding or pay the extra for say a month and not?

Loan units of batteries and invertors.
I think this could be a great service for the installers to use. You could go to your clients and say "If something happens to your inverter or battery, I am able to organise a loan unit while yours is in for repairs at a a cost of "+_ R1000 per month". You could then also say to the client without the inverter or battery you could be losing out on +_ that amount on solar production so it basically it might cost you your installers rate to do the change. I would say to start with 5kw/8Kw SunSynk's and maybe 5kw Luxpower.

SunSynk Warranty Registration with DIY Battery
Just wanted to ask , what did you guys put down for battery type (I assume other) , then it ask for a serial number and place of purchase? Then later in the warranty form it ask for battery type (Lithium?), make? and AH(280ah). Did you put in that it is a DIY battery or do you say the make is Apexium Battery?? Not 100% sure what info to give them here?

Copper Busbar tinning
I got mine done by Natal Electroplating very nice owner and good job was done. Very happy.

Loan units of batteries and invertors.
With regards to the inverters, maybe stock the 3 most common ones in SA (SunSynk, Solis, Kodak) .Kodak could maybe cover most of the Axpert type inverters. I am just guessing the 3 top but you get what I mean.

DC mcb's for batteries
Hi @kjb I saw this one, not sure if this is what you looking for, this item is rather big. https://www.robotics.org.za/XM1-250PV-2P?search=mccb

Copper Busbar tinning
HI, I have made 2 copper busbars for my Seplos BMS terminals, I need to get these "tinned". I wanted to ask if anybody knows who can do this in Durban area. I have asked a few places and they all seem to say they can't do "tin" but can do Nickel. Is Nickel the correct product to plate the copper busbars or should I be looking for someone to put actual tin on them?

Apexium EVE cells
@Pho3niX90 I just wanted to confirm with you, does this BMS have Bluetooth as I have the same BMS from Apexium, but have not connected it up as yet. When looking online they show that the Bluetooth module is on the back of the screen and the ones we have does not seem to have this module?

12V 200a BMS for home built Lithium battery
You could look at this, I think it is the same BMS as above https://lithium-cells.co.za/detail/429358

Sunsynk 8kw and 60kw lifepo4 battery and need extra charging
Hi @pedro54 Do you have panels if so how many and what wattage, and are you able to add more? You will need to max out the number of panels you can mount, or get higher rated (+550w panels).

DIY Battery Components
No problem, appreciate the help.

Apexium EVE cells
hi @Pho3niX90 how did you mount the screen as I see it does not come with the surround and the buttons?
-
Apexium EVE cells
Did you buy your own Seplos v3 BMS, mine I got through Apexium and it just has the screen no surround and no buttons??
-
Apexium EVE cells
@cp69 it is all on the BMS PCB. I like your idea of extending the screen, where did you get the screen surround? Did you make your own cable.

Apexium EVE cells
Hi Received my 16 x 280ah cells and Apexium 200amp BMS (Seplos V2), please can I ask if anybody has a design for a DIY battery box, also did you guys put anything between the cells? I am still looking for battery terminals, fuse holder and fuse and a 250amp dc circuit breaker. I am also trying to work out how to mount the BMS so that you can access the 485 and can ports and see the LED lights, then also the screen as it does not have much depth, so I think that might need to be a thin ply or something. Would really like to see what others have done.

DIY Battery Components
Hi @Chris_S If I may ask where did you buy your fuse and breaker from, and what ratings you got as I think we have the same BMS (Seplos V2 10E)
-
Seplos BMS v2 10E is amazing.
Thanks

Seplos BMS v2 10E is amazing.
@Chris_S I am getting the Seplos V2 10E BMS soon with a SunSynk 5Kw inverter, what settings do you recommend changing?

DIY Battery Components
What fuse and rating do you guys use between the BMS and the battery, I have seen the Victron Mega fuse holder and the 58v 250amp fuse, but have heard these take a long time and quite a bit more current than there rating suggest? Any suggestions and where to buy please. Thanks for all the other suggestions so far.

@PsyCLown, do you know what BMS the Svolt's run?
