    Equalization Disabled / Off (not needed for LFP).
    Batt Resistance Leave at default / 0.
    Stick with the voltage settings I gave earlier. Your BYD modules have their own BMS for balancing no need for inverter equalization.Let me know how it performs.

    If you look at my old AM2 bank, those batteries are between 3 to 5 years old and still going strong.
    They get cycled every single day and the whole bank is still sitting at 99% SOH same brand as the new models.
    The one AM2 that Hubble Energy identified as faulty will be repaired without too much hassle they’ve done this successfully for many customers before.
    The Cloudlink is a big advantage here because Hubble’s technical team can do in-depth remote diagnostics to quickly identify any issues.
    Hubble Energy did go through a period where after-sales support was a challenge, but that is history now.
    The company has turned things around strongly.
    They now have proper service centres in Cape Town, Johannesburg, and Durban, and their warranty plus support is among the best in South Africa.
    On the performance side, the stats are looking very favourable. The modern LFP chemistry has improved a lot, and the AM5+ is performing excellently.
    I’m seeing round-trip efficiency around 97%, which is very close to the 98% lab figures often quoted for LFP remember there are always losses in the inverter and cables.
    I’m also noticing that the packs may actually deliver slightly more usable capacity than the sticker rating excellent value for money and it sets a high bar for the competition.
    The unlimited cycle warranty is also very appealing.
    They wouldn’t offer that unless they’re confident the batteries can deliver over 10 years.
    I’m currently building up more data and will post detailed graphs and test results soon.
    The AM5+ is busy with load and stress testing on the 6kW Solis perfect for hammering it properly, while the AM16+ is sitting at 100% SOC ready for the parallel tests with the AM5+.
    Only a pleasure to share always interesting things to discover.

    Unfortunately, the information I'm looking for only comes with time: 3-5+ years.
    During that period:
    were there any issues?
    if there were, what was the support/warranty experience like?
    how does the stats at that point compare to the baseline you are building now?
    That said, everything posted so far gives me good feelings regarding the AM16+ that I'm eyeing for possible purchase later this year.

    AM16+ First Impressions After a Few Days
    Very Impressive So Far Hello Everyone,So I have been running the AM16+ for a couple of days now and I must say what impresses me the most is the efficiency of the battery.
    I am consistently getting round-trip efficiency of 97% that’s excellent. As many of you know, I am 100% off-grid with a well-performing
    Micro-Grid setup:
    The 8kW Solis is the grid-forming / load-bearing inverter with the old 30kWh AM2 battery bank + PV.
    The Solis 6kW sees the 8kW as grid no connection to its backup port and currently has the AM16+ connected with the wind turbine.
    Last night I ran an experiment from 7 PM to this morning to test how well the AM16+ would handle my nighttime loads with only wind as the supplementary energy source good wind conditions last night. AM2 Bank (8kW Inverter):

    As you can see, the SOC and discharge on the AM2 bank stayed very stable from 7PM to 7AM. Once solar production kicked in this morning, it started charging the AM2 bank again.AM16+ Performance (6kW Inverter):

    The AM16+ carried all the nighttime loads. Even with wind power injecting into the system, the discharge curve is remarkably flat and stable.
    It held nicely around 72% SOC overnight and has already recovered to 87% SOC this morning.
    Very impressed so far!
    Out of interest this is how the SOLIS CLOUD sees the Micro grid it combines the PV and Wind Yield the grid import you see is there to prevent the 6KW from Exporting into the 8KW limiting to the load on the 8KW backup port. It Also shows the combined SOC of the two separate battery banks.



    Update on AM5+ Parallel Testing with Old AM2 Bank
    I had a long discussion with the Hubble Energy engineers regarding running the AM5+ in parallel with my old AM2 bank. They mentioned we may have some capacity issues due to the different battery chemistries (NMC vs LFP) and voltage ranges. We are still going ahead with the tests for educational purposes to show what is possible.
    I will test both configurations:
    AM5+ as the master battery
    AM2 bank as the master battery
    I’ll report back with the results of both setups.I’ll keep sharing more data as the testing continues Cloudlink graphs, parallel testing, different load scenarios, etc.
    Any specific questions or things you’d like me to monitor/test next?

    I am actually following that thread with interest :)

    The Hubble AM16+ is currently looking like very good value for money.

    The local support angle makes it even more attractive - BYD really screwed me over on that front.

    I am very happy that the inverter keeps my voltage level spot on during time of use activated. Been using it for 17 months.
    I am also off grid most of the time. I do switch the grid on via a timer after 4h00 just to always have some battery capacity.
    I thus use as little as 100-300wh grid during the 4h to 8h30 period. Most day even in winter no grid even in this morning period. Only when thick clouds during the day like we had the last month do I switch grid on at other times but only if needed.

    This is perhaps the case on most inverters as most will be using voltage and not measure energy via a shunt if comms are not used and voltage settings.
    I am wondering about the statement that the Deye might not adhere to the maximum load when in island mode. I would guess the 12kW calculates the same as the 5kW. My 5kW is set to only provide 4kW load and can confirm that it has switched of about 3 times when the setting is exceeded.
    My experience is not applicable to the batteries you have but see no reason why not to run in voltage mode until you got the upgrade with other batteries and going back to using comms.
    I am running 4 battery banks on voltage mode and they have their own BMS for the protection/balancing features. 2 are DIY.
    Use the inverter SOC only as a guidance and not if you want to say use 20-100% of the battery. My inverter will report over 50% most mornings but it does not concern me even if the real SOC is 35 or 65%.

    Voltage mode will work fine without risk of damage and I am sure the Deye will keep loads at bay until you can make a plan on the battery these new 16KW batteries are pretty impressive and there are a few decent units under different brands available I am busy testing the Hubble AM16+ and its pretty decent there are other solid brands like the Kynee that we are also getting great feedback and will be reviewing soon and the New Pylontech Fidus is IP65 and also seems like a solid unit have not tested it yet but hope to soon.
    Typically installers know the products they punt and not always interested in things outside of their realm of what they know.

    Hubble Energy will be sending me one Hubble Energy AM16+ (16.1kWh) and one AM5+ (5.12kWh) for extended real-world testing and review.

    These are part of their current LV Range which includes:
    AM-2 – Popular 5.5kWh 51V NMC battery 1C rating, proven long-term performer.
    AM-4 – Compact 2.56–2.75kWh 25.6V wall-mount battery with 1C rating.
    AM-5+ – 5.12kWh 51.2V LFP with built-in Cloudlink, 1C rating and RGB display.
    AM10+ – Larger 10kWh+ model in the + series with advanced features.
    AM16+ – High-capacity 16.1kWh floor-standing LFP with wheels, built-in Cloudlink and high discharge capability.
    S-100A – 12V 100Ah (1.2kWh) compact lithium battery.
    X-5+ (New X-101) – Newer generation Rack Mounted 5.5kWh model with updated features.
    X-101 – Established Rack Mounted 5.5kWh 51V model, widely used in hybrid systems.
    Note:
    Hubble Energy also has a very exciting HV Range, but this review will focus 100% on the LV Range especially for members who already own Hubble batteries or are considering them.
    Hubble Energy will also soon release the new AM-2+, which keeps the same NMC technology as the existing AM-2 models but adds built-in Cloudlink and several extra features.

    My Setup:
    Main system: Solis S6 8kW Pro Hybrid (master) with a Solis S6 6kW Pro seeing the 8kW as “grid”
    AC-coupled: Enphase micro-inverters + Solis S5 4.6kW grid-tied inverter on the Aux port of the 8kW
    2kW Wind turbine on the Solis S6 6kW MPPT in constant voltage mode
    Separate Solis 5kW Off-Grid inverter for additional testing
    Existing battery bank: 7 × Hubble AM2 (mixed ages – oldest >5 years old)
    AM2 cycle counts right now:
    1411 | 1036 | 880 | 853 | 805 | 737 | 595 cycles Total bank health still at 99% – very impressive for the age mix.
    What I’ll be Testing:
    Daily cycling and performance of the AM16+ and AM5+ on the Solis S6 6kW and the 5kW Off-Grid inverter
    Parallel operation between the new + series and my existing AM2 bank (old model compatibility is a big claim)
    Mixing different aged AM2 batteries and different capacities with the new units
    Compatibility with multiple inverter brands/configurations
    Cross-brand testing – insider info from a senior Hubble engineer says the new Plus range can work with almost any other battery brand
    Full use of the built-in Hubble Cloudlink (I have unit #388)
    I’ll also be highlighting the exciting new ergonomic and safety features:
    Wheels on the AM16+ for easy movement
    Magnetic panels that neatly hide all internal cables
    Front-accessible BMS and critical components for simpler maintenance
    Active cooling, fire suppression, and more
    The unlimited cycle warranty on these new models is particularly attractive and will be closely monitored during long-term testing.I’ll be doing a detailed initial short-term review followed by ongoing long-term data over the coming months.
    Expect real numbers on efficiency, temperature performance, charge/discharge behaviour, Cloudlink functionality, noise, installation, display readability, and real-world interaction with wind + AC-coupled solar.
    We will also speak nicely to Hubble Energy and ask if they can provide some products for a lucky draw / giveaway for Powerforum members.

    Hello Everyone Just a quick update
    I’m still waiting on some detailed information regarding the parallel configuration for the Hubble batteries.
    One of the really nice things about the Cloudlink is that it gives Hubble engineers deep access to BMS data.
    This means they can remotely assess the health of each individual pack in a large bank. In my setup, this feature helped us identify an issue with one of my very old AM2 packs early, allowing a smooth warranty repair before it failed completely.
    Without Cloudlink I would only have noticed once performance dropped significantly.
    This proves how useful the Cloudlink is for both owners and support teams it enables proactive troubleshooting without site visits.
    Initial Efficiency Comparison (24-hour cycle data)I ran some analysis on the old 6× AM2 bank (NMC) versus the new AM16+ (LFP).
    The results are quite promising:
    AM16+ light charging limited to 2.6 kW 97% round-trip efficiency.
    Older 6× AM2 bank 92% round-trip efficiency.
    That’s impressive for a bank of its age.
    Factors to consider:
    The AM16+ has lower internal losses larger consolidated cells, fewer interconnections.
    The older bank has additional losses from battery cables, busbars, and more connections.
    Chemistry difference plays a big role: LFP is inherently more efficient than NMC.
    On-paper comparison:
    NMC: 88–94% RTE
    LFP: 94–98% RTE
    This matches the real data I’m seeing.
    Cycle Life Perspective Lab vs Real World Lab-tested 1C, 100% DoD:
    NMC: 2,000 – 4,000 cycles
    LFP: 6,000 – 10,000+ cycles
    In real solar applications with lower C-rates and partial DoD:
    NMC My AM2s: Likely 8–12+ years total 6,000+ equivalent cycles
    LFP AM16+: Very likely 15–20+ years 10,000+ equivalent cycles
    This is exactly why Hubble offers an unlimited cycle warranty on the new + series it’s realistic for LFP in proper solar use.
    Looking forward to more detailed parallel testing once I have the configuration info.

    Hmmmm 🤔 it seems Wisolar  uses different hybrid solar inverters for their installs. I called them and they said that they would launch inverters that can work without batteries in April 2020.Their system pricing seems the most attractive in the solar marketplace. However, we continue to watch

    Hi @deapsquatter - as plonkster pointed out to me in another post, assuming you have a Venus device,you can achieve useful behavior with the "Scheduled charging" options.
    Two notable, intended, attributes of a charge schedule is:
    while the schedule is in effect,  the battery is not discharged you can set the SOC where mains charging should stop (and if that setting is below the current SOC - mains charging is halted) I have been experimenting with schedules, generally works well.
    @Mstott - bottom line is, if you want full yield from your panels, you need load for them to push into.
    Some load options:
    house consumers (lots of variables in that soup, things are switching on/off all the time in a normal house hold). Heating water seems to be a popular option to dump excess PV? battery. This is where I now see where "panel and battery sizing" becomes important.  Also...expensive. grid feed-in (NOT an option for me , sitting in Pretoria). I am also having some challenges with keeping production/consumption/storage in balance currently - I guess that's half the fun of generating your own power!
    Makes you think on how that works at scale (i.e.... Eskom..)

    In my experience :  no. 
    Luck of the draw, but ultimately they all will fail. 
    Best advice: backup regularly ( or always flash 2 cards, store the backup in a "save" place)

    Once upon a time, many years ago, I replaced an ignition harness on a car. Oh wait... I think I told this story before. I'll make it short. I worked on the high voltage side and on the first start the fuel pump fuse blew... making me think I did something wrong. But it was just dumb coincidence.
    My motto ever since: Never underestimate dumb coincidence.
    SD-card quality sucks. They get corrupted. You often don't notice until the next reboot (because Linux caches commonly used bits into memory quite aggressively and can continue running for days or even weeks with a filesystem rotting away under it).

    That would have been the late 80s. Early 80s we were running Quill, Abacus (Psion software), Wordstar, WordPerfect. There were some mention-worthy products like Geoworks (complete suite, worked fine on a 286, but you needed a 386 to run Windows at the time. Then suddenly Microsoft just took over everything. Everyone wanted Word (even though it sucked compared to WordStar 6.0), and nothing fit on a single floppy anymore.

    Recognition for this promising battery technology. I heard a RE investor saying that they expect this to develop like PV panels with large (massive) scale manufacturing that reduces the price going forward.

    Some years ago I had a colleague who had a 2004 Renault Scenic. The one with the electronic handbrake and the fancy electronic dashboard. Both items that failed. Bill to repair it all: 35k. It was 12k just for the stupid handbrake.
    After all that, he summarised the experience as follows: The French should not be allowed to build cars.

    There are softer benefits involved as well - harder to put a number to, and different people will weight them differently. 

    For a start there's your deep freeze. You are not going to lose the contents of that. Sure... your insurance would cover it, but they have ways of getting that money back.
    Secondly there is the comfort and convenience of always having the lights on. When I got my system I wasn't quite sure if I was doing the right thing. It's not small change. 4 power cuts later (one starting about 4 in the morning and lasting 6 hours) and I feel surer that I did right. Also our mayor got so incensed with what Eskom's 13% increase was going to to the already hard pressed residents of his city that he hit us with 19%. Now the payback period is a bit shorter and our fridges, electric fence and nearly everything else keep on working.
