  1. @Tariq I also just paid just over R19k per 5kW Sunsynk incl. wifi logger and free shipping
  2. Ok - on closer inspection it seems that the wires are correctly connected. The internal wires match the labels on the board for the internal connection. Just weird that on the older board version they are swapped compared to the external connectors...
  3. Thnx - but which labels? On the connectors or on the internal wires?
  4. Have to admit that I had not even picked that up - that the labels on the older version do not line up with the labels on the connector. Maybe mistake in assembly? This is the inverter that was making a really loud high-pitched noise when only connected to batteries, so I never even connected load or grid. It's already packaged for return to merchant
  5. Just switched my 2 new Sunsynks on - and also had a very loud high noise coming from one of them So loud, that I can even hear it from the next room... Will await the firmware upgrade tomorrow and then see if anything changes
  6. Yup - my Victron 250V/100A was getting hot to the point that I mounted a fan underneath to blow air against the heatsink...
  7. Awesome - thanks. Will do So the update gets pushed onto the inverter remotely? Does the logger need to be connected? Or how do they receive the udpate?
  8. Thanks Leshen How do I update the firmware? Can you please help?
  9. I just noticed that the 2 Sunsynks that I received are physically different to each other. The 1st board is V1.4 and the 2nd V1.5 Both inverters were ordered together and will be paralleled. Do I need to be worried about the different revisions - other than obviously having to expect different firmware versions once starting them up?
  10. Fully agree - and have already asked my installed to adjust the order Thanks for the detailed insights - really helpful !!
  11. I know that problem - but I have already been down that road. I started off with 1x Axpert, 1x Pylon US3000, and a few panels. Gradually expanded the system to 2x Axpert, 4x Pylon, Victron MPPT, and 12x panels. Now upgrading to 2x 5kW Sunsynk and adding 8 more panels (total 8.5kW PV then). Don't really think that I will need more than that (even though there will still be an idle MPPT string on one of the Sunsynks )
  12. Thanks for the info, Leshen That means that latest firmware actually increased the specs of the inverter beyond what is printed on the label?
  13. Hi all is it possible to override the voltage settings for the Pylontechs on the Sunsynk when the inverter is connected to the BMS? I have been running with the widely posted 52.5V/51.8V in my old system for the last 2 years extremely well - and would like to keep these values also going forward. However, I understand that the Pylon BMS will communicate the higher Pylon standard values to the Sunsynk. Is there a way to override these voltage settings without completely disconnecting the BMS?
  14. Thanks all !! Absolutely agree. Am not planning to upgrade again in the near future. Am planning this will be the last of the 'upgrade itch' The price difference is about R150 between the 455W and the 490W My question is what power I can expect even on good days from the 490W panels. With VMP at 38V and the inverter clipping at 11A, will I actually ever get more than 420W from these panels? That was also my starting feeling - so thanks I did originally order the 8kW but then changed to 2x 5kW as it gives me 4 strings vs 2 strings (and I want to connect 3 into different directions)
  15. Hi all am still trying to decide on which panels to use on my additional string and would appreciate some advice. The best price/watt panel that my installer can offer is the JA Solar 490W - however I am not sure if it makes sense on the 5kW Sunsynk. Here the specs: The IMP at 12.90A is significantly higher than the 11A that the Sunsynk MPPT supports. This means, that the production will be clipped and I will never be able to draw the full power from the panels, correct? The alternative would be the JA Solar 455W: This makes more sense, or? What would you recommend? Thanks in advance
  16. Just wanted to say thanks for this - really appreciate it Ever since I added my last Pylon US3000 to my pack, I have been having comms problems (e.g., cycles not reporting for the older ones). Turned out my older 3 were running v1.3 and the latest one v2.4. Upgraded all of them to v2.8 tonight without problems - and now all data is reported as should be
  17. Thanks. Am getting 2x 5kW installed tomorrow and will listen out for anything. Fortunately mine are installed in the garage
  18. Does the noise only come from the inverter or also audible from all these devices? If also from TV etc, from the device itself or from their speakers?
  19. Please post a picture of you complete Dashboard 2 from ICC - so that we can you chart at the bottom covering a longer time period
  20. What is the consumption of your loads at that time? I assume that you are running in SBU mode, right? Then the panels are first powering your loads - and the excess of your PV production after powering the loads is then used to charge the batteries. So if I am producing 3kW PV but am using 2kW on the load side (because my hot water geyser is running), then my batteries will only receive 1kW to charge
  21. Sounds good I'm hoping that my new system will be installed next week (or at least parts of it...). I'll post something here once I have a first bit of data
  22. In Somerset West Each string facing a different direction (1 towards morning sun, 2 towards evening sun, 3 towards main direction - sorry, not at home at the moment, so struggling with headings ) If I remember correctly main direction is around 330 degrees, which would make the other directions around 240 and 60
  23. @leshen advised that the string for MPPT 3 will be no problem. The strings for MPPT 1 and 2 can be up to 9x panels (even though I think I will start 6x on each until I can source more of those panels)
  24. Thanks again to @leshen for taking the time to discuss my plan over the phone and give me valuable advice. Really appreciate it !!
