  1. That looks fine. Just not sure about the 2nd one, but have seen this before as well and then when I check again the next day it does display a proper version number.
  2. What I also would suggest is reset everything. Factory reset your inverter and then switch it off. LCD should be off. Keep it off for 5mins at least. Same with your batteries, sleep and switch off on manual switch. Power up batteries, power up inverter and then reapply your settings on the inverter and see what happens. Also please check the firmware versions mentioned here before. You should be on FW version 500.007 and 002.00x.
  3. Yes, you would typically only need those pins. Hmm, difficult one. Maybe when you have time, take a few photos of the config you currently have and post here. Cable, battery, inverter configs. Maybe a video of what you are seeing happening. I think Andy has given you my number, so you can whatsapp as well, but might get more exposure here and better help from others more qualified than me.
  4. @willietes hmmm unsure of what setup should be on the non-DIP batteries. Do you only have a single battery? You have confirmed that cable is in the correct sockets? Growatt BMS port to Battery IN port? I would still confirm the pin outs just to be sure. battery PIN1 to inverter PIN 2,battery PIN3 to inverter PIN 1 Setting on inverter (05 = Li) and then (36 = L01).
  5. Growatt = BMS port and Battery = IN port Also double check your Dip switches to be on 0110 on host battery, 0000 on all slaves. Double check the comms cable pin outs are correct as well.

Has anyone had the scenario before where there is no data available via the App or Web? Have unplugged and reseated the wifi dongle, but no luck. Doesn't give any data and gives these values Connect Status:Lost Update Time:2020-03-25 12:52:01 (Last time I had data)
  7. Excellent, thanks for the detail. Will do some investigation and shopping. If you had to guess, how long does it take to boil water, say 1 or 2 liters at the low setting of 400W, or whichever setting you usually use.
  8. @Digital Clouds press the UP button 3 and 4 times to display this on the LCD.
  9. @werriesI just want to confirm that you are also on the same FW ( 500.07 / 002.03) and that you can disable the beep when pressing buttons on the inverter and this is also the SPF5000TL HVM inverter model? Growatt now telling me no, it isn't possible with the BOF setting on program (15).
  10. @IgubuHere you go... https://powerforum.co.za/topic/5164-growatt-inverter-pylontech-batteries-bms-comms-guide/?do=findComment&comment=71643 Cable I used was the one that came with the inverter which had these correct pin-outs as per the post linked above. The pin-outs are also detailed in the Dyness User Manual.
  11. @ConradDeWet I take it you have seen this thread which resolves this issue. Leaving this here for anyone else also having the same issues. Says Pylontech, but from pg 2 onwards we started discussing Dyness as well. https://powerforum.co.za/topic/5164-growatt-inverter-pylontech-batteries-bms-comms-guide/page/2/
  12. Quick one for the technical guys. Based on the below specs... Ignoring losses and other technicalities for this example. One would be able to discharge this battery at 2,4kw for one hour. 1,2kw for 2 hours, etc etc. 1) Is it more damaging to the battery to discharge at 2.4kw vs 1.2kw vs 0.6kw? Sure BMS will have some sort of protection in place if discharge current is too much, but thinking more in terms of prolonging battery life\health. 2) Is there any benefit in only discharging Lithiums to 20% vs discharging to 10% (what about 5%?) ? How does the above change when you have say 3 of these in parallel?
  13. Thanks, weird they all differ. On my inverter itself it says 500 07 C27. and 002 03 518
  14. I understand and agree. The idea around limiting (not setting) the AC charge current is that when\IF I switch over from batteries to grid during the morning (5am - 8am) mostly when it happens, there is no need to go crazy with the current draw from Grid to get the batteries up to wherever it wants it, when there will be plenty of solar available within hours and can then max out charge current to get the batteries up to 100%. Load at that stage is max 400W(mostly 200 - 300W), so running at say 15A(even 10A) AC charge limit, is more than enough to cover load and replenish the batteries until solar kicks in.
  15. Hmm, I checked now and mine indicates only 001.02/002.03 . I did do 500.07 and then the 2nd update as well. @SiliconKid I know you also did both 1st and 2nd of the latest FW bundle, what does your FW version indicate via the App?
  16. @Digital Clouds I suspect you guys spoke to me on the phone regarding the pin outs? Richard here. Yes 100% on the calibration. Regarding the charge current, how I understand it is that the BMS will now only take what it needs and that could have been 5A at that stage, might be much more later on. It fluctuates the whole time. I tried locking the AC charge max in to 15A,but not possible on these settings. PS: still getting the button press beeps even after reflashing the growatt with the 007 firmware. I'm 99% sure the BOF(15) setting worked for switching off the button beeps on v006 firmware.
  17. Guessing I'm in luck and that all those black wires tied together are the neutrals just waiting for a Smart Switch Edit: I see you posted about this as I was typing. Now to look for local Sonoff supplier with stock. Communica seems to be out of stock. Buffalo (Banggood Direct Mail courier) indicate that with Covid19 and many airlines cancelling routes, there will be delays.
  18. @wolfandy Thanks! That helps a lot. I take it that was to replace the normal old 2 gang like below? Think its crabtree.
  19. Ah thanks for the confirmation!
  20. @SiliconKid Agreed and I have been informed that they are developing remote monitoring and upgrade capabilities, not sure how the upgrade part will work, but lets give them some time. Looking forward to the remote monitoring at least. All new batteries should have the latest boards and firmware on already. My 3rd module landed on Thursday as well and we confirmed that this had the new board and firmware already installed vs the 2 modules I had which were installed mid Feb. For the people who already have these in place and having the same issue, the only option for now is getting them to come and update it, like in my case. Apparently local importer has updated about 100+ batteries in SA already. I will PM you contact details which you can pass on to the interested people on your side. Anyone else here also welcome to PM me for the details.
  21. Here is what I am referring to. This is from a local SA supplier. Still 3 different models....all Voltage rane of 90 - 250AC
  22. Already on gas, but wife says after moving to solar off grid setup there is just one thing she misses and thats the kettle. Yeah I know, how hard can it be to wait 9mins to boil it on the gas, but OK. Thats the reason I was asking if anything new has come on the market. The induction sounds like an option, but would be interesting what @DeepBass9 comes back with regarding wattage and time to boil.
  23. All right guys, I am happy to report back that Dyness came to the party and sorted out my issue. The CEO and owner of the importing company of Dyness in SA came to visit me on Thursday night with new PC boards and the latest firmware for the batteries. Unfortunately we were quarantined in the garage with only water to drink, but maybe next time It's now running like a jet. Li (05)and profile L01(36). BMS comms now working 100%, SOC in % and all controlled by the BMS ....AND....no drops\trips since the update! Happy times! I must say excellent customer service and great guys to work with. I really appreciate the fact that a plan was made to resolve my issue. The Dyness China colleagues were planning on coming to SA at the start of the past week, but the travel ban stopped that. They would have come in, done 2 weeks quarantine, and attend the Solar Africa show as well as sort out these battery firmware upgrades. Unfortunately the travel ban stopped that idea.
  24. @DeepBass9 thanks. Out of interest, what are the specs of the plate on high and low settings and how long does it take to boil on low vs high? How many litres?
  25. Necro post, but 4years later and none of the links work anymore. What is everyone using these days? The need is still there.
