For example, for a while I was very suspicious of a very complex function that sets the amount of AC charging current, but in your first graphs in this topic, I see that AC charging is not involved. No promises, but I'm looking into it.

Yes, to get the panel current, you do need to divide the PV power by the PV volts. 31 A could represent anything from 31.0 to 31.99 A (they truncate, not round), so if you take 31.5 A and say 54 V battery voltage, that's around 1700 W, close to what is shown by Solar Assistant. Edit: I agree that it's quite confusing; many users expect that PV volts times "PV amps" would give PV watts. We're open to suggestions on how to make it less confusing when using patched firmware. August 22, 20232 yr Hi Coulomb, Thanks for the replies... Your a legand if you can find a fix. In the solar assistant imagine, I was highlighting load of about 1700w and charge of the battery at 800w was being achieved by only 1700w pv input... Strange... Maybe it's just under recording pv input?
August 22, 20232 yr I returned my Kodak to the distributor, and it was sent back to the supplier, they tested it and confirmed a hardware issue if that helps. I have have yet to install it again, not sure that I will, it's a backup for now. Just to be clear I made sure that the device was only producing 50% of its PV capacity, it was not a 'reporting', 'calculation' or 'indication' issue.
August 22, 20232 yr My unit was returned twice to supplier and must say Voltex support was almost non existant . Had to call them back all the time. on the 2nd time i complained about the issue in this thread with no feedback that i eventually gave up as it was more a inconvenience and taking up my time at work. system works fine in all other departments and has been reliable just the low pv generation is a issue. Online i found it is a pretty common issue noted by those that want to understand the system. Max ive seen generating from pv is around 1700w but generally around the 1400w range on a clear cool day with 8 x 480w panels in 2s4p configuration. Have bought another 2 panels but waiting on 2 more panels to complete the job. have fingers crossed Coulomb and co. figure it out that way dont have to buy more panels.
August 22, 20232 yr Fingers crossed... No pressure Coulomb but we are all counting on you.. I've got 6 x 600watt (3s2p) low volt panels so max is 114 volts and the most I've seen on a cloud bust was 2.6kw.....but feel my unit is under reporting the watts.

It avoids all sort of command sending that would otherwise be required. But if your battery voltage reading is OK, then it's no use. September 13, 20232 yr I have noticed that the setting to limit PV input to max charge current seems to be set by default. I am not able to change this setting in solar assistant or on the inverter itself. It seems this setting is cutting the solar input on my system once the SOC passes somewhere between 89-95%. I tested it to see if this was the case. I used a higher load to keep the SOC under 90% and there was no characteristic drop off in solar that you can see for the preceding days. This seems to cut off 1500 -2000 odd watts per inverter (4000w array x 2 for parallel inverters). During this period the inverter will use the lower solar power in conjunction with the battery to cover the loads. This is even more visible when the battery is fully charged and the solar input is limited to about 1000w per inverter until the SOC falls under 97%. During charging of the battery under 89% I get a peak solar input of roughly 6000-7000watts which I think is ok for an 8000W array? I never noticed this issue when I had the charging values set manually only when I connected the communication with the pylontech BMS.
September 13, 20232 yr That is a very interesting observation. I'm running a kodak 3.6kw battery, which is setup to use pylontech setting. I've noticed an under read of amps on my inverter. Eg. Battery reports 54v charging at 49amps inverter records pv input at 65v with 30 amps.... And battery charge is set to solar only.
September 13, 20232 yr I also can't change my solar assist setting, but my setting is opposite to yours. What if you disconnect on solar assistant as if you were going to change an advance battery setting can you then change it?
September 17, 20232 yr can you confirm that the Kodak og plus 5.48 is correct for this firmware? Yes, it's suitable. Patched firmware version 72.00a is based on factory firmware version 72.00, which is what you are running now. So you should have no problem. You will need to update the display firmware as well, so you'll need to get the USB to RS-232 cable all sorted. You could start with updating the display firmware first (this patch requires both firmwares to be updated). In the worst case, you lose the ability to use your removable firmware and monitoring, but power should still flow. The only compatibility issue is with the display firmware. There is a very small chance that your display firmware uses the other chipset. I've not heard of Kings with the other display chipset, but it's possible. As long as your display firmware is a well-known version like 02.81 or 02.83, you should be fine.
