Axpert King 5KW only giving 50% of the potential of solar arrays?
I got the cable from solar assistant and plugged it into the consol port on the pylontec master. I have since changed batteries to the kodac 5kw ones and my solar issue has resolved itself

Axpert King 5KW only giving 50% of the potential of solar arrays?
@Sam79 are you using BMS communigation between the inverter and battery? @Coulomb I am away for this month but I will ask somebody to check. I will try to update the firmware when I am back!

Axpert King 5KW only giving 50% of the potential of solar arrays?
I have noticed that the setting to limit PV input to max charge current seems to be set by default. I am not able to change this setting in solar assistant or on the inverter itself. It seems this setting is cutting the solar input on my system once the SOC passes somewhere between 89-95%. I tested it to see if this was the case. I used a higher load to keep the SOC under 90% and there was no characteristic drop off in solar that you can see for the preceding days. This seems to cut off 1500 -2000 odd watts per inverter (4000w array x 2 for parallel inverters). During this period the inverter will use the lower solar power in conjunction with the battery to cover the loads. This is even more visible when the battery is fully charged and the solar input is limited to about 1000w per inverter until the SOC falls under 97%. During charging of the battery under 89% I get a peak solar input of roughly 6000-7000watts which I think is ok for an 8000W array? I never noticed this issue when I had the charging values set manually only when I connected the communication with the pylontech BMS.

what is more interesting is my king inverters on 71.97 do not display this limiting behavior but the ones on 72.00 do. What firmware versions is everybody using?

Axpert King 5KW only giving 50% of the potential of solar arrays?
I have noticed an interesting behavior since connecting to the pyelontech BMS instead of just using the USE settings for the battery. The solar output of the inverters is directly tied to the charging rate of the batteries as provided by the BMS. I.e if the batteries are bellow 89% and accepting a higher charging current the inverters will use 5000w solar. if the batteries are 90% and above and request a lower charging rate the solar power utilized is only 2000w. it seems that old confusing setting of limit PV power to max charge current is enabled, but there is no option to disable this. I am not sure why this is but I think it could be the answer to the limited solar utilization people are seeing. Perhaps @Coulomb could advise if this is something in the firmware or a safety thing to prevent overcurrent events to the battery?

PylonTech US3000C Battery Produces No Output , Accepts No Charge
May be the internal fuse if the mppt voltage shot up during the failure?

Smart Home Solution to turn off Aircon when Power Fails
I currently use this BROADLINK RM4 MINI UNIVERSAL REMOTE (eiferer.co.za) with home assistant to control it according to temp and battery SOC. It is fiddley though because you have to capture the IR codes. The advantage is that there is no hard stop.

Solar panels not performing
Do you get the same result if you switch off the mains supply to the inverter?

Solar Charging issues & ICC
Hi are you getting assistance from [email protected] Normally Mannie responds promptly if not with very detailed answers but I have never gotten a response like the one above. I know there is some confusion with 2 different companies offering the software but you seem to have an updated version.

Axpert compatibly
You could also consider getting a stand alone mppt like victron (costs the same as a new inverter though) or some other brand

Adding of Panels.
I suggest you disconnect the panels from the axpert King. The maximum voltage it can take from the solar panels is 145v, at 163 volts you risk damaging the solar charger. I suspect the inverter has shut off the solar to protect itself. Did they add all 4 in series or did they add 2 pairs of 2 panels in series?

Mixing new US3000C with 2 old US2000
Did you buy the new USB Cable required to connect to the US3000c. I got mine from the solar assistant site and it worked with ICC

Pi3 - Solar assistant over ICC
I think I used 3 heat sinks but they are a couple of rand each. Please let me know how it goes RE Solar assistant. its always nice to see real world opinions

Pi3 - Solar assistant over ICC
I swapped from the centurion solar software to the "official" ICC software and my problems improved. The other things that really helped and you should maybe consider before buying again were 1. Buy cheap heatsinks from takealot or communica and stick them to the processor and USB chips. Then add a small fan blowing over them. 2. Buy a proper 2 amp PI power supply, whatever software you use this will help. 3. I set the pi to reboot every 24 hours using sudo crontab -e then adding 0 6 * * * /sbin/shutdown -r now

What to use to precharge the inverter capacitors?
Thanks for the advice guys I will do that!

What to use to precharge the inverter capacitors?
As the title says are there any suggestions on the specifications of the resistor to reduce the inrush current when starting an inverter?

48V Charger
Have you considered using one of the old 5kw inverters as a charger?

What Generator will work?
I currently use a Ryobi 6700k with AVR on my Axpert 4048 inverters. I have to set both to appliance and they pickup the generator and charge the batteries. The other inverter I use is a 2000w turner morris inverter generator. I can only charge one inverter at a time using this but I can leave the inverter set to UPS mode. This is underpowered so if the load increases the inverter takes over until the load is decreased and then the generator continues charging. Overall I think an inverter generator is the solution but I need one a lot bigger than what I have. The ryobi works in bypass but you expose your appliances to the generator ac waveform which is admittedly nuts.

ICC solar program stops
Did you use an HDMI to VGA converter if you swapped this with the power on then you have blown the HDMI port on your PI. It can be fixed by exchanging the blown resister but this is beyond my skill. I know because I did this twice to 2 separate pi's..... You can still download VNC viewer and use the IP address of your pi to log in. The user name is pi and the password is raspberry. I now use mine headless.
