  1. hi. did you manage to come right with pinout info ?
  2. check the inverter manual if you have one. It differs from brand to brand but most have a screw/bolt on the panel where the wiring is connected.
  3. Had the same issue with my new batteries and the manual specifically says the inverter must be set to 58.4v bulk and float charge voltage. the BMS then has its own settings to monitor and control the battery input and output but it still needs that higher input voltage setting on the inverter. the lithium chemistry batteries charge in 2 stages : CC - constant current and switches over to CV - Constant Voltage . depending on bms voltage and inverter voltage settings if set too low then the battery does not fully charge to capacity. the pic i posted is from the BSL manual that has the recommended settings. https://bslbatt.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/PowerLine-OPERATING-INSTRUCTION.pdf https://bslbatt.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/PowerLine-5-230202.pdf
  4. this is from the manual for the BSL batteries. Charge voltage on inverter should be 58.4v. charge amperage 50amps. as P1000 mentioned. i think the charge voltage is too low at 54.3v.
  5. these i was told are using the Felicity protocol and the pinout corresponded to the manual provided. I used the pinout in the manual to connect with pbms Tools. i connected to and used the RJ11 6 pin plug to serial adaptor. problem is finding the pinout or protocol for the new Fivestar inverters
  6. Themba, No you can not use a 24v battery on a 12v inverter. you will get the magic smoke if you do.
  7. hi can you elaborate on what you did to get it working ?
  8. have you come right ? i am having the same issue. app on phone shows device under datalogger but only when wifi is connected to the dongle . will not connect to my wifi after following prompts in "network setting" device shows up on Dessmonitor but always offline.
  9. most likely depends on how unit is setup. post your hardware model etc and its settings, so guys can assist. without that info its hard to comment.
  10. great info I must check the Sunmagic 48150 51.2V 150AH batteries if it possibly has the same bms. These are also sold as Fivestar units.
  11. this is a good guide and other manuals has good info on the website. https://thesunpays.com/downloads/files/Inverter Settings LiFePO4.REV3.pdf
  12. thanks for the heads up. Not really worthwhile selling it cheaper than R6k. Paid R14k will keep it as a backup/spare.
  13. I was considering getting a 2nd 5kv axpert King inverter to run in parallel but after looking at pricing, additional expense for the wiring etc and to also have the space for a 2nd unit. For similar money i chose to rather go to a larger 15kv unit instead to replace the 5kv. At end of the day its what suits the pocket for most.
  14. try this . Looks similar to this inverter. https://sakopower.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Sunon-pro-Solar-Inverter-User-Manual.pdf

  16. today i had a brief chance to check on a sunny hot day with some cloud. max i seen was 1.96kw at 11am . put on 2 aircons and my projector tv quickly. total power consumption was 2.5kw. inverter set on sbu and i changed over to sub to double check.
  17. I changed my Axpert king 5kv to a Fivestar 15kv hv unit. Picked it up at a good price and was offered a good price on my King. With the existing 8x480w panels now rearranged into 8s from the 2s4p setup. today its a rainy, overcast day and at 11am it was generating 800w-1.1kw to charge the batteries. Where as on a sunny, clear day on the king it averaged 1.3-1.4kw. max i have seen generated was 1.7kw. Busy with a 2nd 9 panel pv string at moment to add on to the system. So not sure if the King was a issue with pv generation or the newer higher voltage setup is just that better and more efficient. The new setup has been running for 2 days so far and i will monitor over the coming week.

  18. To the guys in the know and anyone who possibly has used them. Any feed back on these batteries and for them to be used for solar backup and/or UPS installations. Have seen these being available at very good prices. And they can also he used with mixed battery chemistries or added to existing lead acid/AGM installations. 150AH 48v 3500 cycles 100amp charge/discharge
  19. Over the years i have read many articles and have seen videos on youtube and have had it mentioned to me by some installers Its fairly common to oversize the pv panels anything from 10-30%. This way it covers the shortfall in panel production due to most panels producing a fair bit less than the panels stated spec. A very common practice in Australia. In all these articles etc. the main thing that is always stated as important is that the system voltage is the criteria that MUST be followed and to not exceed the system recommended voltage range and not the max open circuit voltage. ie on the 5kv King : 60-115v voltage range. not the 145v max open circuit voltage. This would cause the magic smoke and certain unit failure. https://www.gardelelectrical.com.au/blog/what-is-inverter-oversizing I would be cautious though and double check specs of your inverter and if the manual suggests otherwise.
  20. have you checked Multisibcontrol ? there is a thread on it.
  21. has anyone tried the new Beta Version of Patched Firmware 72.00a / 02.83a for the King inverters ?
  22. I use a a alluminium pool pipe. its around 3m long with a additional 1.8m telescopic squeegee. Stand on a 1.8m ladder and i can reach the top panels. roof is +-4.5m wide where panels are mounted. 2 x 4 panels mounted narrow side by side. I clean around every 3-4 months either in early morning or very late afternoon with fuses disconnected. I spray water onto panels with garden hose and clean with foam side of squeegee. for stubborn bird poo i use a dab of sunlight on the foam and scrub lightly. once done rinse with garden hose. Nothing special to use, just rinse well.
