Hi Guys

i have a 8kw sunsync inverter setup i am looking to buy a battery set what would be the best recommended battery bank? And what size. My daily power usage is on average 10kw. Peak power is 3kw.

Get four Pylontech US3000C, which will give you 14kwh of storage or get three Pylontech UP5000 which will give you 14.4kwh of storage

Hi Speedster, where are you? I'm having no end of trouble adding 2 x US2000C's to my4 x  2 and 3 year old US2000's, my Axpert VMIII doesn't want to know them alone (brings up the 61, loss of communication error code) or when hooked up to the older batteries. May well be the same communication issue. I purchased them from Allo Solar here in France who seem incapable of giving any meaningful advice. Might consider buying yours and forgetting the C's on my primary system. Hopefully the 2 x C's will work on my backup system running an old Goodwe 5048EM, bloody useless as a primary off-grid inverter but well built and has already suffered 3 years of 'abuse' given it was working flat out most of the time!

So it depends on how good your price is and whether shipping costs are viable?

Hey. I'm in Pretoria - I don't think shipping will be feasible.

I was thinking of either Freedom won etower or pylontech.

Etower has local support and not a bad price for the 5kw etower 

@Speedsterwhat are you selling your pylons for and what is the date of manufacture on them?

FWIW i managed to ship a Dyness 4.8 weighing 70kg from Stellenbosch to PTA for 900-odd via TCG. The 900 was incl insurance cover for 20k else it would have been 400 or thereabouts.

Any budget restraints? For an 8kW machine, you want at least 10kW of batteries.

The SunSync 8 kW inverter can draw 185A at full load, so best to cover that with a capable battery bank.

I currently have two Hubble AM-2's  connected to my SunSynk 8 kW inverter, and am very happy with the setup.

Could you check something for me quick? On your Sunsynk, under settings -> battery are you able to set the discharge rate? If so, then surely you needn't have to worry about the battery being able to cover the inverter's full load as it'll simply draw in the extra from grid? Sadly I'm not able to check myself as my install is still a work in progress.

Yes, that is correct, it's called Discharge Amps, and I have recommended to others in the past who have financial restraints, and can only start with one battery to set this to their  battery size. The inverter will shutdown after a few seconds if this Discharge Amps settings is overdrawn by a high load. If there is no financial reason, rather cover the inverter with a sufficiently capable battery.👍

Thanks. Are you sure the inverter shuts down when the Discharge Amps is exceeded, or does it just not draw any more from the battery? Ideally it should make up the shortfall from the grid.

Yes, I've tried it, and it does shutdown. It tries for a few seconds, and then goes off. You then need to restart the inverter with the big green ON/OFF button on the side.👍

I am referring to load-shedding times, when there is no grid available. When you are running your house from batteries at night, it will blend the grid and batteries if needed.

In the "System Mode" settings, you can setup the "Power" to be used (from the Batteries), and if extra power is needed it will come from Grid.

If Grid goes down at night in this mode, then "Use Timer" settings in "System Mode" are ignored, and all available battery power will be used, as set in "Battery Setup".

Are you referring to the inverter display or solarman app, or other monitoring software?
