Sunsynk 5kw alarm won't switch off

Featured Replies

How do you silence the alarm?

Last night was the first night the Power-That-Be let me try out the battery to supplement grid use but the battery died overnight and went right down to zero. It's currently charging now (it's up to 4%). The cogwheel on the top left of the main display was marked as "Off" and the Alarm light on the inverter wasn't flashing but the alarm was (and is) still sounding.

At 10pm the battery was at 58% and people were going to sleep so I don't see how the battery voltage can drop so much overnight.

For anyone who has a similar problem with the alarm:

BASIC > Display > Beeper on/OFF

I still don't know how this happened.

Hi.

When there is a grid failure, the battery won't supplement grid bus. It only supplies the load bus.

What do you have set on your battery page?

That's the odd thing - I didn't notice any grid failure at all. The only gap in the Solarman data comes from when we switched the inverter off this morning (before we figured out a way to switch off the shrill beeping).

Then at 7:18 another error (F59) starts when switching everything over to the mains so the battery can charge, but there's no flashing alarm light on the inverter, just the beeping.

Also your discharge amps is set at 35A. That's under 2000w

Thanks Leshen! I've unpicked the BMS Err Stop & I've updated the discharge amps to 100A.

What are the error codes?

Hi everyone, I’ve just had my system fitted last week, I too had the alarm but no alarm light am I have now untucked the alarm to off. My discharge is set at 40A, I’m in UK, should I too, change this to 100A?  The battery seem to trickle the power to the house at about 20w, which seems pitifully little.  Because of the grey sky, the battery is still running down and is currently 28%.

thanks for already being a useful source of information.  Regards. Trevor

The discharge amps depends on the type and number of batteries that you have. E.g., for 1 Pylon US3000 it is 37A

We need more details on your setup to be able to help properly

I have a Sunsynk 5.12 kw battery.

Thanks

From the specs you can see that Capacity is 100Ah and Nominal Charge/Discharge Current is 50A

On this page of your inverter, you should make the following settings:

Type - Lithium

Batt capacity - 100Ah

Charge amps - 50A

Discharge amps - 50A

Also, untick 'BMS_Err_Stop'

On this page, set Amps to 50A

Except for the Batt Capacity, your inverter should read all other values also directly from the battery BMS. I assume that a comms cable is installed between the inverter and the battery - correct?

Can you maybe please post a picture of your BMS screen (like the one below) - just to make sure?

If you only have 1 battery, please change 'Batt capacity' to 100Ah

You can also change 'Charge Amps' to 50A

Thanks - this looks good. As you can see, the inverter has taken the charge and discharge current settings directly from the BMS (which overrides the settings you make on the Battery Setup page). So then setting 'Batt Capacity' to 100Ah is the only thing that you need to do

If you want want us to also have a look at your System Mode settings, please post a picture of that page here

This is not always the case - (at least with some firmware versions) it will take the lower value of the two.

Interesting - never had that happen on any of the firmware version that I have been on (granted that I do not do every firmware update available)

  • 2 weeks later...

Does anyone know if I can turn the battery off, I’m lucky if my battery gets up to 30% charge during the last week, the weather is so Grey….

it seems to be drawing current from the grid to keep topping it up and I’m not convinced that it is worth doing while the weather is so overcast.
