If a manufacturer claims 6000 cycles does that mean after 6000 cycles the battery dies a sudden death or loses % of it's battery capacity? Our average battery cycle's = 0.44 cycle's per day.The batteries are estimated to achieve 6000 cycles according to the manufacturer. So is it wrong off me to expect a minimum of 20years life expectancy on our current batteries? If I allow it to drop to 50% capacity I will have say 12 000 cycles. One must read the cycles with the allowed % loss.

August 28, 20224 yr My Loech LFP 48100TB datasheet guarantees 3500 cycles lifespan at 100% DOD. I understand this to guarantee 100% capacity. After that it might gradually loose capacity and increase Ri. With 1 cycle per day that would mean almost 10 years lifespan. But as I never discharge to 100% DOD I assume that the lifespan could be even significantly longer. They claim 20 years design lifespan. Edited August 28, 20224 yr by Beat

August 28, 20224 yr Most testing of LFP batteries guarantee a lab testing environment of 25°C & also usually will have a cycle life in number of cycles or age in years. Usually the life span as discussed will claim 80% of the original ah or kWh value from the original production value. eg. 100ah/ 5kWh battery after 6000 cycles or 10years will have 80% left of 100ah so will be 80ah after the 6000cycoes or 10years. All of this can be taken with a pinch of salt because they cannot replicate age & cycle life all at the same time. They can test cycles however, the combination of cycles & age is an unknown & they make this prediction as an estimate. What I have come to understand & see is that all these manufacturers are starting to realise that it's not worth it to claim 10 years and are starting to become more realistic about this & offering a 5 year warranty. Also the cell manufacturers in China are also keeping cells on their shelves for at least 2 yrs before these cells are finding homes. Not to mention the EV market grabbing lots of volume & the Automotive grade Vs battery storage grade cells quality can be said to vary. But capacity testing helps if you have a battery tester but, I think keep the battery out of stress & it should last but I don't think as claimed.
