SOLARMAN replacement?

Featured Replies

I’ve bought a new Sunsynk 8kWp and cannot get Solarman to get the data logger online.  Tonight I noticed from another thread that the new Sunsynk loggers are not compatible with Solarman.
Which other management and monitoring software can I use which will give me the same capabilities as Solarman

Why not use the SunSynk App that communicates with the SunSynk Logger, which also has a PC App?

If you want to pay for a good app, you can buy SolarAssistant as @wolfandy suggest. It is a very capable app with real-time data display, and remote adjustments to the system.👍

Which data logger did the inverter come with? The Sunsynk logger, or the Solarman logger? Both are good and capable platforms, and have almost exactly the same functionality, but yes, they are separate platforms.

If you really want your inverter on Solarman, then get a solarman logger. There are quite a few being sold second hand in the classifieds.

If it’s a new Sunsynk inverter then it comes with a Sunsynk dongle and that requires you to download the Sunsynk app. It’s quite clear in the user manual

Thanks for the input so far.  Yes it is a new Sunsynk 8kW and it came with the new Sunsynk dongle which is not compatible with Solatman (as I said before)

I looked at SolarAssistant but then I must use a Raspberry Pi (if I’m correct) which I don’t want to do. Had one on my Axperts previously and experienced problems with it from time to time.
I did download the Sunsynk app and I’m not yet completely familiar with it, but so far I’m not really impressed by it.  Looking for a more comprehensive and real time display.

The SolarAssistant is what you want - or you could just use the SS app - there's not much else

Then you can get the SOLARMAN dongle. SOLARMAN is definitely not real time though

SolarAssistant does require a Pi, but is absolutely rock solid and has never given me one second of trouble. Unlike the Solarman app, SolarAssistant gives you genuine real-time monitoring and control down to 1-2 seconds, not minutes. The data and graphs captured from the SunSynk and a host of supported lithium batteries can also be exported for further processing. You can view your "Site" using a dedicated URL on any platform (Phone, Tablet, PC, Mac) protected by e-mail and password. You can also grant others "view" access too.

Unlike Solarman, if your internet goes down for a number of hours, you won't loose any data, as the Pi is directly connected to the inverter and batteries, and stores all data on its local SD card. I have a 32 Gig card which I think can store 20+ years of  data.

Choices, choices. :) 🤔

My Solar Assistant arrived Friday. Set it up on Sunday. Been running the whole week. I don’t know any of the “other” systems out there besides the standard WatchPower app the Kodak came with. SA was exactly what I was looking for and very happy so far.

I’m sure there are still many functions I do not even know of yet …..

If you are running Home Assistant then SA can integrate into this and you can drive automations for your house based on what the inverter and batteries are doing (or not)

Yes, I've read many threads and watch many video's on that, but at this stage still way above me ...... 😞

The journey has only started for me ...

I also had Axperts previously with another software on a Pi - but believe me that the SolarAssistant and Sunsynk combination is a very different experience and runs completely stable. Have been running this for about 1.5 years now and never had a single hick-up
