August 27, 20232 yr 21 hours ago, Monos said: what is the difference between the corrected version 272.66 from 72.66 272.66 fixes the premature float bug. In some cases, this might be reason enough to choose it all by itself. The only other change is that the threshold to skip the "race to the bottom" code (which leads to being stuck at 90 V on the panels) is reduced from 0.50 A to 0.05 A. This is usually enough to provide a noticeable improvement in PV production, especially in cloudy or rainy weather when you really could use every joule of energy you can get. In all my patched firmware update files, there is a .txt or more recently a .asm file that has comments on what it changes. As an example, dsp_272.66_patched_05.asm starts with: Quote ; ; This is Axpert Max 8kW main firmware version 272.66, based on factory firmware version 72.66, ; for use with Arena reflash tool and using the C28066 reflash command, ; This patch uses only the two current compare changes, not affecting minimum MPPT voltage at all. ; Changes the MPPT current threshold from 50 (0.50A) to 5 (0.05A). ; Also fixes the premature float bug and changes the version number. Edit: As for which one is "better", it's a user preference. The patched files are all amateur experiments, but sadly, they tend to perform better than the factory firmware. Now i test 1st morning the 272.66, but is woret than 92.04 that i had, is sunny and the inverter drops again to 90v for not causes this, have 3 amps/string and.stays at 90v. This take all.the amps of the pv, but stays in 90v. Do u think it has sens to try 72.68 ? Since now the 92.04 is the best.

August 27, 20232 yr In this case, there is only one firmware update available, factory firmware version 46.71. It's supposed to fix the stuck at 90 V problem as well as the patched versions of 90.06 in this topic.

August 31, 20232 yr have had the 100w problem again, 11kw inverter 291.70 U1, seems to only happen on a cloudy day same as 90v issue, sat at 100w 360-380v 0.2 amp, as soon as I isolate the inverter battery and solar (have no grid) and reconnect it starts to work seems to stay working even if the next day is cloudy takes a few days then if you get clouds it won’t go over 100w, similar to 90v issue. anything I can test to narrow down issue? do I need to flash U2 (12.21 at the moment) I assume U2 is the display? works great in the sun may try flashing back and see what it does.

Interesting, thanks for the feedback. 291.70 is one of the early patches, which implemented nearly all of Georg's original patches. Nearly all. There was one pair of patches that I could not make, as the original didn't have equivalent code ready to patch in that area. But now I'm thinking that I should change the code so that it does have the extra case, and patch it to be just like Georg's. Even if it fails, it eliminates one nagging possibility. It could even explain why it takes so long to get stuck; it has to wait until conditions are such that this one area I could not patch comes into play. This is a part of the code that I thought not to be terribly important: i thought that getting it right might mean that it takes a fraction of a second less to get to optimal control. But perhaps this part is vital for getting unstuck in certain rare conditions. I'll see what I can do.

Ok, so here is a patched firmware that adds the missing pair of compares. @Solar shed This is patched firmware version 391.70 for the Axpert Max E 11 kW non-twin with the '28066 DSP. It is based on factory firmware version 91.70. It should be the same as 291.70 except that it has the missing pair of compares, as mentioned in the preceding few posts. Do not use with any other model of inverter. Use at your own risk. Please report results, good or bad, and even if you could not get it work etc. Firmware upload instructions for models with the removable display. Edit 15/Jan/2024: I have detected an error in this patch, so it is deleted. There have been 20 downloads of this file. If you are one of them, please delete it! If you are running it on an inverter, please revert to factory firmware version 91.70, or patched firmware version 291.70. One user has had an inverter with 391.70 blow up; it's not clear if it was caused by this firmware, but it might be. I have a fixed version of 391.70: patched firmware version 491.70. My humblest apologies for the hassle. I generate so many patches that a problem like this is unfortunately likely to happen sooner or later. Edited January 15, 20242 yr by Coulomb

September 8, 20232 yr Hello. To update the firmware via USB, as far as I understand, a file with the "hex" extension is needed. It must be placed in the root directory of the flash drive ( F:\new_firmware.hex) . However, the file with the "hex" extension is not found either among the Coulomb patch or among the original 72.66 update files. Tell me, what am I doing wrong?

Do have the original 73.63, seems to work ok, only using one mppt input at the moment might be why I didn’t notice. thanks for all the great work you guys are doing
September 10, 20232 yr I did flash 391.70 because 291.70 seemed to work ok but it gave a error 32 display communication, but only when the pv was on worked fine without pv.
September 11, 20232 yr Tell me, what am I doing wrong? What you're missing is that hex files for the '28066 processor are now called .inv files. I don't like that idea, but it's what the Arena reflash tool is looking for. I've updated the firmware upload instructions to mention this. I believe that if you're wanting to update via the flash drive method, you have to rename the .inv file to dsp.hex, not just any name with a .hex extension. Voltronic don't seem to think that the flash drive method is as important any more, or they'd mention something about this in the manual. You can't update display firmware with the flash drive method.
September 11, 20232 yr Might be where I went wrong didn’t realise 91.70 is for single mppt No, main firmware version 91.70 is for the Axpert Max E 11 kW non-twin '28066, and all Max models have dual MPPTs.
September 11, 20232 yr 291.70 seemed to work ok but it gave a error 32 display communication, but only when the pv was on worked fine without pv. That's a little weird. It's possible that you are getting noise from the PV interfering with communications. There is a capacitor mod that is supposed to address this.

Didn’t think it was interference because 291.70 worked fine no communication error, just 391.70 has the communication error, flashed back to 73.63 and it was fine, I will go back to 291.70 today and see if that works as it did before.
