Hi Guys

Been lurking for a while and installed an Esener 5.5k inverter which is pretty much a rebadged Axpert and Mecer unit from what I can tell. Coupled to that I have a Esener 5.1 Lithium battery. Both being Esener it was pretty much plug and play and so far even stage 6 has been n breeze and without solar panels yet. I did the install myself and so far my only issue is the Wifi dongle that must talk to the SmartESS "server". I connected the Wifi Plug Pro data logger to the inverter as per instructions. I can then connect to the data logger via my phones wifi.

So far I have managed to :

  • Create an SmartESS account
  • Connect to the wifi datalogger
  • Connect the wifi datalogger to my wifi router at home

The app shows the datalogger is connected to the device (inverter) and the router but not the server. The 4th SRV light does not illuminate on the data logger. I read that the data is sent at intervals so I also waited an hour but still no data being sent to the app. I also disabled the 5G wifi setting on my router thus only having 2.4GHZ connection, no luck. Also tried connecting to another wifi router that is an extension of the main one. The datalogger is about 2m away from the wifi router so cant be a signal issue. All out other devices at home uses the wifi routers just fine.

 

I followed the video below as well as the pamphlet that came with my inverter. Any suggestions will be appreciated !

Please could you let me know what brand and model of Wifi Plug Pro data logger you would have purchased and where online? I have a Esener 3k inverter and would like to monitor it remotely. Currently, I can only access the monitoring dashboard when connecting the inverter directly to my PC via a USB 2.0 A to B cable that comes default with the inverter and when using their SolarPowerMonitor 2.2.81 software. However, this method does not allow for remote monitoring. Hence, I need to get the WIFi dongle.

Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Have the same problem

This is what I did:

Load the (iPhone) app by scanning the QR code for iOS
Connected the phone to the wi-fi signal from the Pro plug
Opened the app and then connected to the house wi-fi with the Wifi Config button
The device then restarted and it was observed that all 4 lights then appeared on the dongle.
(The phone at this stage was connected to the house wi-fi)
An account was Registered
I logged in
Choosing the Datalogger button and pressing "+", the serial number Q0026021550684 was entered
An address, etc was entered

However, looking at the Status page, there is no info and lower down that same page, the device is shown as Off-Line

How does one get the device on-line?

I'm looking at a similar setup but haven't bought yet as I'm currently between the Esener inverter and the Growatt SPF 5000 inverter. I want to start with just a backup system to run the essentials and at a later stage look at solar panels. The geyser is already solar / tubes and the stove is gas and I'm not looking at running the non-essentials through the inverter at all. As this will purely be a backup system for now, the battery will be charged through Eskom once the power comes back on.

How are you finding the setup so far? How much load have you ran through the inverter? Any issues you're currently experiencing or you would like to point out? Can you pickup when loadshedding kicks in with lights dimming or appliances going off and on for a few milliseconds? 

Looking forward to hearing everyones feedback and experience.

Dont use Smart Client - This is for power plants, use the Smart ESS one

Just some advice if you have the SR-MS-W-09 data logger. The data logger is directional and its best positioning it with the antenna pointing towards the wireless. It's also best using the smartess app and not the client. If you have installed the client you will have to login to shinemonitor.com and delete it from there. It also only works on 2.4ghz. Try activating your guest account in your router and connect to that. If your device is constantly showing offline it most likely means that your data logger is constantly restarting due to it having a poor connection. If you are in the Cape Town region i can most likely assist you. Just dm me.

No, I litterally sat upstairs in my bedroom with Datalogger in the garage and set it up.

They might be able to help. I've usually gotten alot of help from them in even making non compatible inverters work with their dongles

Would you be so kind to advise me as I'm struggling with WIFI dongle i bought one for my FiveStar Hybrid Solar inverter 3000w/3000KVA

I have manual rewired my RJ45 plug as per @Eurard posts regarding wiring the wifi dongle can i please have your detail if i can kindly forward you my connection and progress my WIFI dongle switches on and i have connected it to my 2.4Gz wifi network and all the LED lights come one except for the DATA light i belive im strugleing with the communication wirers TX , RX .
