February 5, 20233 yr Morning Anyone here on a Sunday that can maybe assist me. I have a 20/16 battery. I had a solid green with 2 flashing red lights. I did a reset. No the battery doesn't come one. The battery is/was fully charged. The manual is extremal vague in this regard. The battery has been running for 4 months now shutdown is set at 20%, low battery at 35% and restart at 40% on the inverter and the battery has not gone below 40% What can i check? What is reliability like on these batteries? Should I get worried? Thanks
February 5, 20233 yr If @Steve87is around then he might be able to help you out. He seems to be the most knowledgeable person on the forum when it comes to the Freedom Won batteries.
February 5, 20233 yr Hi Cobus, Thanks @jumperfor getting me onto this thread. The FreedomWon battery is probably the most bulletproof battery on the market & in situations like this you actually need good post installation support. Can you not get you installer to pay you a visit to rectify this issue. I have supplied & installed a great number of these batteries to a large volume of customers. More than happy to deal with FreedomWon & their technical support team also. To alleviate your frustration any further, where about are you based ? This is more of an installers job to ascertain what has happened more than an end users head scratching exercise. Its not my installation but there are fundamentals that need to be investigated first & then FreedomWon can be contacted if there are deficiencies found on the battery side. However, I will give you an idea of how I as an installer as well as FreedomWon deal with such an issue. When I install a FreedomWon battery I will provide you with the Orion BMS PC software so that in a case like this you would have been able to hook up a PC & troubleshoot & actually just view the BMS data in general. FreedomWon provide this software to the installers & provide a normal Old Printer cable to allow this. In a problem like this they would request you to install Any desk which is a remote Desktop tool to allow their technical team to have Access. Once they have views the data they can provide a solution of what has taken place. If there is a issue they will send a courier at their cost to collect & send it back to the HQ for analysis or repair. Once sorted it will be returned & I have seen them do this in 8 working days for customers as far afield as Durban. So let's first try to assist you & ascertain where you are based & take it from there. Please also feel free to PM me, I can forward you the Orion BMS software tools.
February 5, 20233 yr Author Hi Steve Thanks for the reply. The system runs with an 8kW Sunsynk and their BMS, not sure what historical data can be retrieved from that? I'm based 20km outside Tzaneen, and purchased directly from Segen Solar. I will go through the channels and report the problem to Segen, then wait and see what their recommendation is. From the manual "The Freedom Lite error light keeps illuminating after each reset" Is the error only suppose to flash red? I'm still unsure why after the reset the battery does not want to come on at all. Have you encountered a problem like this before? I'm aware of two similar problems with Victron installations. (Which Freedom Won resolved) I will drop you a PM, thanks

February 13, 20242 yr Hi Cobus i have a Freedom Lite 48v 10/8 battery connected to a Victron 48/5000/70-50 Multiplus 2 inverter. The system is +- 6 months old. Two days ago while on inverter mode the mcb on the battery tripped when loadshedding started. The grid cb that feeds the inverter also tripped. I reset the battery and inverter and left the system still on inverter mode. The battery was 95% charged and voltage 56,2V. There was also no fault alarm on the Cerbo. +- 20 hrs later I experienced the same fault But this time the low battery indicator light on the inverter started to flash. The start button on the battery also started to flash. Battery Voltage at this stage was also +-56v and 95.5% charged. The fault alarm on the cerbo showed high dc voltage I reset both the battery and the inverter . The system started to operate on inverter mode and after few minutes the mcb on the battery tripped again. The start button on the battery also started to flash. I switched off the system. Thank you Sunil
February 14, 20242 yr Hi Sunil, My freedom won lite 5/4 started to trip randomly after a few years with no issues whatsoever with the victron inverter showing low voltage error and the battery sometimes taking a few reset attempts to switch back on. It would happen at all levels of charge and in most of these instances drop charge drastically - anywhere from 40 to 80 percent of charge just randomly disappearing. Despite installer troubleshooting and freedom one tech doing a number of remote log-in support sessions, including reconfiguring the battery, nothing improved. Ultimately the battery had to be returned to freedom won for full diagnostics which found a faulty BMS and the majority of battery cells also faulty. They essentially took the best part of a month to diagnose and then rebuild the battery with new components before returning. After the months of trying to troubleshoot and the frustration of the battery unreliability I wished I had just taken it back to freedom won at the start of the issues.
