February 8, 20233 yr Hi guys I have an 8kw SunSynk inverter and a 5kwh SunSynk battery as a loadshedding backup. I got a Solar Assistant Pi installed and it's running great, but it's powered off a wall plug for now. I would like to neaten up the installation and run it off the DC power supply hooked up directly to the battery. However, I can't quite see where to attach those two little round ferrules to the battery. The terminals on the battery are huge, and the terminals on the inverter too. My installer didn't install a breaker between the inverter and the battery - so I'm lost as to where I'm supposed to connect this power supply. Any suggestions? Thanks!
February 8, 20233 yr If I am not mistaken the Pi need 12VDC. Your battery is 50V. You will need a voltage reducer that is fed by a fuse wire . If you have one of these I would still install a fuse.

Raspberry PI's need 5VDC via USB plug (and the USB port differs depending on the PI model) and the OEM power supplies provide 3A and apparently the PI needs that under very heavy load. But you made a good suggestion on what to use.

Nothing on my battery or inverter is that size. Is the idea to install a separate fuse/breaker between the battery and inverter, and then connect the power supply (the one you linked) onto that?
February 8, 20233 yr Remove those terminale and fit terminales that fit your equipment. Fit a inline fuse like Jacques recommended.

I just plugged those connectors to the battery connects in the inverter

I specifically went with these guys because they're Master Installers with 100s of Sunsynk installs. Is it a fire hazard I should sort out ASAP? Or just a safety issue as you can't work safely on inverter/battery without isolation?
February 9, 20233 yr 100 x 0 is still 0. Yes that's very disappointing to hear. Definitely a Safety/Fire and compliance issue. Yes, it works without, but what when you (or the other 100's) have an incident, e.g. short circuit in the inverter and it pulls > 200A from the batteries. I have a 200A fuse on 200Ah of batteries.

June 15, 20233 yr My Solar assistant arrives soon and I have exactly the same question. Where and how to connect the PI power supply. The battery lugs in the inverter are huge and the power supply lugs are tiny.
