Any one know of a supplier ( local ) that supply components other that RS, Communica or Mantech? I am looking for capacitors 80V 3900UF 25x50 snap in. I can get from the USA but would be better if its local..

It depends if you want the cap for an inverter, in which case you will have to go for 105 degree C rating, Communica mostly has only standard 85 degree C.

If you looking for 1 or 2 only, let Mantech get it for you if they dont have the item.

Else if your purchase is R2000 or more you get free shipping from Digi-Key.

Hi

Thank you for the reply, I have checked with Mantech they can't help me... I was told. The only place I can get from is Digi-key, I need about 30 of them hopefully that will cover the shipping too...

Thank you

Thanks for the input guys, I ordered from Digi-Key this morning, parts already on the way...

One can count on the states for service...

thanks again

Hi @Dewald Brink I am also on the verge of ordering components from DigiKey. What do I expect to pay for import duties, as DigiKey just state that this is on the buyer? . I am also buying capacitors.

Not Sure what the duties would be... still waiting for that surprise... it is my understanding that one does not pay duties on components... I could be wrong..

I am expecting delivery on Friday so we will see...

Any update?

I ordered R2k of parts (IGBTs, caps, power diodes) from DigiKey. Super quick courier, but got nailed for R628.80 customs/import duties. This was Sept, 2022.

Thank you so much for valuable info. Ouch thats nearly 30 percent of value😢On top of this duty, must you still pay VAT of 15 percent?

Hi Guys,

Received the my 20 caps yesterday... Digi-Key's service is very good, same as RS and the price is also very similar,  I had to pay + -  R630 for customs clearance. So In total the caps work out to about R150 per item. I don't think its to bad as no one in SA could supply me...

I will use them again for other parts too.

Regards
