Thank It depends if you want the cap for an inverter, in which case you will have to go for 105 degree C rating, Communica mostly has only standard 85 degree C. If you looking for 1 or 2 only, let Mantech get it for you if they dont have the item. Else if your purchase is R2000 or more you get free shipping from Digi-Key.
February 25, 20233 yr Author Hi Thank you for the reply, I have checked with Mantech they can't help me... I was told. The only place I can get from is Digi-key, I need about 30 of them hopefully that will cover the shipping too... Thank you

February 26, 20233 yr I have never heard of a 3900uF cap.... LOL. You can try Electrocomp They have a 4700uF 100V 105degC listed here: https://electrocomp.co.za/product/electrolytic-cap-snap-in-4700uf-100v-105c-vishay/
February 26, 20233 yr You could also try Altron Arrow. https://altronarrow.com/passives/ Check Dataweek or Pulse Buyers Guide for other passive component distributors. I think the near demise of the whole Denel Group will have caused a lot of death and destruction in the local electronics supply chain.
February 27, 20233 yr Author Thanks for the input guys, I ordered from Digi-Key this morning, parts already on the way... One can count on the states for service... thanks again

What do I expect to pay for import duties, as DigiKey just state that this is on the buyer? . I am also buying capacitors.
February 28, 20233 yr @BritishRacingGreen you could try [email protected] they resellers of digikey and prices aren't bad, especially for small orders
March 1, 20233 yr Author Not Sure what the duties would be... still waiting for that surprise... it is my understanding that one does not pay duties on components... I could be wrong.. I am expecting delivery on Friday so we will see...

March 3, 20233 yr I ordered R2k of parts (IGBTs, caps, power diodes) from DigiKey. Super quick courier, but got nailed for R628.80 customs/import duties. This was Sept, 2022. Edited March 3, 20233 yr by reapster add screen snippet

This was Sept, 2022. Thank you so much for valuable info. Ouch thats nearly 30 percent of value😢On top of this duty, must you still pay VAT of 15 percent? Edited March 3, 20233 yr by BritishRacingGreen Extra info
March 3, 20233 yr Heya @BritishRacingGreenR628.80 was the total I had to pay, after paying for the DigiKey order, so no, not as far as I understand. There wasn't any tax/vat on the digikey invoice, so I guess the R628.80 essentially includes "VAT" in this case. Edited March 3, 20233 yr by reapster clarify a bit

Damn, repair technology is already heavy, but procurement / logistics to faciltate it is even worst 😁 But it is what it is, so we learn all the ropes. Thanks.
March 10, 20233 yr Author Hi Guys, Received the my 20 caps yesterday... Digi-Key's service is very good, same as RS and the price is also very similar, I had to pay + - R630 for customs clearance. So In total the caps work out to about R150 per item. I don't think its to bad as no one in SA could supply me... I will use them again for other parts too. Regards
