Electronics sensitif to inverters?

Featured Replies

A few days ago my Bosch ceramic hub with electronic touch controls broke down in the middle of the night and caused an earth leakage trip. I brought it to the repair shop and the lady's first question was if I had it connected to a solar inverter. I responded yes but it has been running for almost 3 years with no problems. As a matter of fact I experienced no problem with any equipment connected to it so far, unless one attributes LED lights failures to it. My system is 2 Axpert/Synerji MKS 5K off grid inverters in parallel.

Does anyone have such experience with electronics?

How I love appliances without electronics, even my old car is almost free of them, except for the electronic ignition and the car radio. Ah yes, lately I put in the second LED dome light globe after the first burned out after a few minutes.

You are so correct. Electronics are conveniences to take the effort out of having to do much oneself. Give me manual control with components I can fix myself. 👍

I have a light fitting which does not work when the grid is absent.

The Sunsunk inverter pushes out 230v at 50hz and yet this light fitting only works when the grid is present.

The light has three different settings:  white, white partial, and blue which is rotated by switching the switch on and off in succession.  Under loadshedding the light refuses to come on.  Not sure why ...

Other than that, I've had my inverter in place now for 1.5 years and not other hassle.

Is it possible that that light is somehow being fed by a non-essential circuits?

I had a similiar defect with a friend in Cape Town. When grid falls away, his plugs work but not lights. Eventually we figured out that the earthbonding when in battery mode had been lost As a  test, measure the voltage between output neatral and earth, it should be very close to zero.

Why the lights wouldnt work when the neatral was floating, was another defect in his house wiring.

You may have the same issue.

Hi ... the whole house is on the essentials circuit, with a 12kw 3p Sunsynk.  I rarely use more than 6 or 8 kw at any one time across all three phases.  During loadshedding household demand is around 700w per hour.  It's not that ... there is a relay in the light fitting which does not turn on when the grid is off.  I found this very strange ....

That's interesting ... will need to have this checked.

My LED lights flickered when my inverter had a floating neutral
