November 30, 20232 yr Good afternoon all forum members, I am looking at the S-Volt 24v 106ah battery at Solar Warehouse for R 11.8k i think a very reasonable price. Just want to confirm do they come with a + and - cable as i see they have a special plug on the battery. As i am out here in Upington on a farm i need to know beforehand if the cables come with the battery. Thanks in advance. Derek.

Thanks @Kalahari Meerkat yes i did see that on the web page but just wanted to ensure that they do actually include the cables, i will contact Solar Warehouse and confirm that it is packed before shipping. I now of Pylontech batteries that was ordered and delivered to Springbok without cables just wanted to ask if it happened to someyone else that ordered the S-Volt batteries.
December 1, 20232 yr Sorry @Derek3, I don't know anyone that got any of these batteries, but it certainly should include the cables, as indicated twice on the web page, only funny thing is the Ethernet (Comms to inverter) cable is only mentioned once... also once its a 24V Battery and then a 25.6V battery, a 24 Volt battery would be 15S and a 25.6V should be 16S, so maybe just confirm with the supplier what they actually mean and are selling...
December 1, 20232 yr @Derek3 Yes they should come with the cables inside the box - one side would be that special connector and the other should have ring lugs on it. It should be an 8 cell battery for 25.6v. There are two versions, one has BMS communication and the other does not - maybe double check which version that battery is.

December 3, 20232 yr I see they charge a setup fee of R650. It is not a installation fee. What will they need to set on the battery if it is installed on a Axpert inverter running User on battery setting.

I'd say, but looking at this... Quote Warranties: All inverters and batteries must be installed by a qualified electrical wireman or Master electrician with a valid registration with the Department of Labour. A valid electrical certificate of compliance (COC) must be issued once installed, specific to the installation of the backup or solar system. The installation must be compliant with SANS 10142 and ALL its parts. Any warranty claim submitted without installation photos, a valid COC and proof of a qualified wireman/master electrician installing the unit, can be rejected and will render the warranty claim null at void. I'd say the qualified electrician would have to do any an all setup that may be required... and get paid for it...
March 15, 20242 yr Author Just an update on the 25.6V 106ah S-Volt lfp battery. The setup of the battery was a bit confusing as my electrician did not understand why the manual stated incorrect charge voltage as my understanding was that it is a 8cell battery not a 7cell battery. After much deliberation between myself the electrician and the supplier we figured out the manual was incorrect and is indeed a 8 cell battery with recommended charge voltage of 28v. See attached data sheet that is still not correct. So to anyone purchasing the 24v S Volt battery it is 8 cell and chances are good that the recommended charge voltage is incorrect in the manual. The nominal Voltage / 3.2V nominal per LiFePO4 cell gives you the amount of cells... which is 8, since 8 * 3.2V = 24 + 1.6 = 25.6V...

Lfp cell nominal voltage = 3.2v x 8 = 25.6V. (8cell lifep04 battery) Many adds for 24v batteries specify it this way to indicate that the battery is compatible with a 24v inverter but the battery actually consists of 8 x 3.2v lfp cells.
