Goodwe ES 4.6kW WiFi reset

Featured Replies

Here’s my fix which worked well. Just as with the others my Goodwe didn’t want to connect the the router despite good Fibre  signal. I then changed tack and using my smart phone as a WiFi Hot spot I used my iPad to log into the Hot Spot standing right next to Goodwe. I connected to Solar-WiFi and logged into the Goodwe Web portal and reset the connections to my iPad Hot Spot, after entering the new setting I restarted the Goodwe wifi (mine doesn’t have the external rest button ; I figured out I could do through the same Goodwe portal after setting up, last menu top left management’). After a day or two I redid the whole procedure changing Goodwe back to log onto my WiFi router which it did instantly and seamlessly. For future issues I shall repeat this successful method. Hope that helps other having similar frustrations

My WIFI fw version is V1.0.3.8.

Inverter FW is 171710.

WIFI works fine from a few days to 3 weeks and then the LED turns off and the Inverter has to be restarted completely. FW updates and dongle replaced and problem persists.

While it works it updates to SEMS without a problem. While it's down, it transmits nothing.

This is very irritating.

I have the same issue. They sent me a new module but it has the same problem aswell. Goodwe's wifi module sucks. They need to change this wifi brand/module or add a LAN option asap.

I still have problems sometimes (it drops to 4 blinks occasionally). I already tried a new wifi adapter but it has same problems aswell. They said they will send me a LAN module.

Tried all the stuff and a cold reboot by installer fixed it. I did not pay attention 😐 Was changing parameters in PV today, but somewhere something went wrong (parameters were not saved, and the setting for DOD off-grid now also gone, probably because it is not connected). Anyway, want to do a cold boot, but want to make sure. Switch off 2 switches on DB next to inverter (main switch last, no need to switch leakage one off), then rotary switch under inverter to off, then wait a while, then reverse ie rotary switch to on, and then the DB switches. Is that correct? Thanks!

I’ve found easiest way to reset WiFi, without having to hardware reset whole inverter, is to remove the 4 screws of WiFi module and then unplugging it . Leave it disconnected for a few seconds then plug it in. Within a few seconds it’ll reconnect (wifi led staying solid) and you set.

Lots of people complain about WiFi on the Goodwe. Yes, it doesn’t recover gracefully from network dropouts (requiring the above procedure to get online again) but if your internet connection is stable then so is the WiFi connection. I have been upgrading my whole home network the last few weeks and the inverter WiFi only puked when I broke my network. It hasn’t dropped out by itself so far.

One thing I have not tried, and it makes sense. But don't want to put fingers in 'somewhere' until I am comfortable 🙃 A cold reset did it again (Goodwe response - AC off, rotatary switch, batteries, then reverse - posting it here just in case someone is unsure). That said, I want it to work ALL the time without requiring the use of a screwdriver, and a LAN module seems to be the way forward. Except I can't trace one online to buy. Have asked Goodwe for a local supplier.

I tried all the options suggested by Youtube, and the process mentioned in the manual booklet provided by my solar system unit supplier but nothing worked. If you are in Australia, please google the contact number of Goodwe Inverter and give them a call without any hesitation. I did and they solved my problem in less than five minutes. If you can, it is better to pair the inverter with your home wifi router prior to give them a call (not a rocket science, search youtube and at least pairing thing works by their suggestion). Even if you can't they can help you out on that occasion either. So don't waste time and give them a call.

I see this thread now again and, as much as I hate Goodwe right now, the wifi connection has been rock solid. My home automation connects to it and it gets polled every 15 seconds and I've genuinely not had a dropout since my last post above a few months back. I'd love to know what's the difference between my setup and those of others. I can mention I have a pretty high end Ubiquity wifi installation throughout the house. These cheap wifi routers you get with your internet provider are mediocre at best. That being said, I've had to make changes to my wifi network a few times and the inverter gracefully recovered from those outages every time. Weird...

Every time I lose Eskom and backup power, i lose my internet connection. Trying to reset the connection is hit and miss and generally involves profanities over a couple of days. I certainly wont recommend a Goodwe to anyone.

We had our 'smart meter' installed this morning.  I now have blinking orange (wifi) lights (I have 2 inverters) and their wifi does not come up in my list on my phone so i can reconfigure.  How do I reset/get connected to wifi again.  Has been 8 hours since new meter put in.  thanks for any help

Have you tried my reboot sequence posted earlier?

I just wanted to add my datapoint:

Discovered that my GoodWe GW5048D-ES firmware version 1242416 (aka 2424G) was not submitting data to SEMS, then checked but SolarWIFI*** access point completely absent, and WiFi light on the front completely dead.

Tried wifi reset (short press button behind meter panel), reload (longer than 3s press) and then even removing the WiFi module completely and keeping disconnected for a minute or more: WiFi light remained dead.

Only when I did the full shutdown and cold start (change-over to grid, PV off, grid supply off, ES rotary power switch off, battery disconnect, wait until system dead, reverse process, thanks @Bobster. in thread below) did the wifi fortunately come fully back up, with solidly burning light and data going to SEMS.

I agree.

I installed firmware 252517 about a year ago and I can tell you that, indeed, the only way to make the Goodwe WIFI work when it freezes is by doing the RESET and START-UP procedure indicated in the User Manual identical to the one in the post it mentions .
The hidden button by removing the screws and the procedure for both the Soft reset of the WIFI device and disconnecting the antenna stopped working for me, I believe in the ARM update No.: 15, if I remember correctly.
I understand that in September or October 2023 new updates appeared for both the DSP Firmware and the ARM Firmware (which would be of interest in this topic).
It would be interesting to know if anyone was able to update to the latest Goodwe Firmware if this BUG was corrected.
