Hi may 2019 be a good year for all of the Forum . Bought a Arduino Uno 3 but cant get it going . Have a problem to get a port connection . I am using the USB cable that came with the Uno . Installed on a Laptop and later on  a PC still the same problem . Also down loaded another driver but still don't connect . Please help .

Hi Chris. 

Please check the following. 

Go to Tools - Board and make sure the correct board is selected from the list. 

Once the correct board is selected, the "Port" selection should become available. go to "Port" and select the correct port. 

Then click the upload and see if connection is established...

 

Thanks Jaco the right board is selected but I get the following message when the USB is plugged in  "USB device not recognized".  I uninstalled it in Device manager and ran scan for hardware changes but it still comes up with USB device not recognized code 43. I've even tried installing the driver ch341ser.zip, no success.

I never had a driver issue with Arduino. 

Did you download this from Official Arduino site? 

 

In there is a new "Universal" Driver

And some old Drivers under the "Old_Arduino_Drivers" folder. 

What operating system are you using?

 

 

Hi Chris.

CH341 on the Arduino's can be challenging some times.

There are a couple of drivers and IDE combinations (1.6 vs 1.8) that simply will not work together.

Throw Win 10 in the mix and then the fun begins.

Win 10, and the later releases of 8/8.1 update the driver automatically and screw you after you got it working eventually.

There are drivers with manual installation, that you need to select device etc, that work with the Arduino CH340/341

Beware of clone boards as well, they operate excellent, but also pose driver issues different to the Original CH340/341 Arduino's.

At one point I got tired of the struggles and got me an ArduinoISP. Now I can even program bare chips :-)

I downloaded the program from the Arduino.cc website the same as the screenshot above. My operating system is 32-bit. This morning I uninstalled Arduino and started from scratch but no luck. Thanks for all the advice I appreciate it. I'll keep on trying.

Do you have a TTL-USB converter? If you had one, you could work via "TX/RX" pins.

Thank you Javi I will try to get TLL-USB converter from the supplier when I go there again .

Unplug the Arduino, reboot Windows into safe mode (Google to see for your version of Windows, but usually you press F8 at bootup and get some options to start in safe mode) and remove all the driver(s) from the Device Manager in control panel and uninstall the Arduino IDE. Reboot normally and install Arduino without connecting the Arduino to your PC. Then connect it and see if it picks up the driver. Also, try different USB ports, and if / where possible unplug any other USB devices. I used to have a similar issue with an Arduino MEGA which didn't seem to work well with other USB devices plugged in.

Thanks everyone for your input on this . The Arduino is up and running thanks to excellent service from PiShop from Henley on klip . After trying all the advice from you I realized the board must be faulty . They chekced the board , replaced it and started it .

Glad to hear it's sorted. I didn't know there's a Pishot in Henley on Klip! Quite a nice little town that

They are the inporters and supply  some big Companies . Lots of stock and give discount for bulk . What a surprise to see Henley on Klip after 30 years again . Very neat and clean for a small town .

I often buy stuff from them but never bothered to look where they're situated. My best friend's folks live in Henley on Klip, very nice little town that.
