I have a Victron Multiplus II 48/3000 inverter charger that is connected to 2 banks of 4x 100Ah Gel batteries which have definitely reach end of life after 13 years!
I also have an Outback Flexmax 60 MPPT solar charger connected to the same batteries.

I do not have any Victron GX or Color interfaces. But I do have a Raspberry PI running Victrons VenusOS.

I would like replace the batteries with lithium batteries.

This will all have to be done on a budget so there is no chance of buying a Colour controller or GX device.
Currently what would be the most suitable battery?
I quite like the look of Hubble AM-2 or AM-5 batteries. And they have a setup guide for the Multiplus.
Would they work with the Outback Flexmax.

Do you have the MX60 controller? Just provide the exact model. 

I imagine the MX60 is a newer version.

I have a Outback Flexmax 60. Same age as the batteries. 13 years old

Other way around - seems the MX60 was obsolete in 2008?

Is a Hubble AM-5 or Hubble AM-2 the way to go?

Or is there better value for money on the market?

 

If it's a choice between the AM-5 and AM-2, then the AM5.

Out of the other batteries that are on the Victron inverter compatibility list, the Dyness seems to be a good value option to investigate if the intention is to buy multiple batteries to build up a bigger bank.

Not saying it's the best or that others are not compatible, just that Dyness  is listed by Victron as compatible (according to their website), and that prices seem to be among the best currently for 5kWh and 10kWh lithium batteries of a "recognized" brand name.

Buy cells from Apexium and a JK BMS and roll your own... I'd say you will be able to put together a 15kWh 16 cell LiFePO4 battery for under ZAR 40k
