Posted March 16, 20196 yr Not a good decision when load shedding is at stage 4 now. Four hours wasted. In hindsight, I should have gone the off grid route. You can't wait for some decision to be made to achieve a go ahead to push back into the grid. It might never happen.
March 16, 20196 yr Been grid-tied with push-back for 4 years now. In that time the grid has not been down nearly often enough to justify the cost of batteries. Still, on Stage 4 days like these you vloek!!!

My hybrid grid-tie can do it all - including with am essentials output that stays on if the grid isolates. Too bad the CoCT wants this "interlocked changeover switch" which defeats the object.
March 16, 20196 yr Yes, most manufacturers now make combination inverters that include solar chargers and battery interfaces so you get a cost effective, integrated solution where all the parts have been designed to work together. Then you have COCT throwing a spanner in the works for zero technical reason whatsoever. This is utter madness. Senseless obstruction. No other way to describe this.

March 17, 20196 yr An interesting discussion with Chris Yelland. The current round of load-shedding can possibly alleviate the ridiculous solar power rules. https://www.enca.com/news/experts-doubt-eskoms-stage-four-excuse
