Not a good decision when load shedding is at stage 4 now. Four hours wasted.  In hindsight, I should have gone the off grid route. You can't wait for some decision to be made to achieve a go ahead to push back into the grid. It might never happen.

I predict that in 2 years time the cost of storing electricity in batteries will be below grid price.

My hybrid grid-tie can do it all - including with am essentials output that stays on if the grid isolates.

Too bad the CoCT wants this "interlocked changeover switch" which defeats the object.

Yes, most manufacturers now make combination inverters that include solar chargers and battery interfaces so you get a cost effective, integrated solution where all the parts have been designed to work together. Then you have COCT throwing a spanner in the works for zero technical reason whatsoever. This is utter madness. Senseless obstruction. No other way to describe this.
