February 15, 20251 yr Good day. Today I bought a Mecer 5.6 kw Inverter along with a 5.5 kw Hubble AM2 batery. As I understand the batery has a BMS system in and it seems like there was a communication cable of some kind included I the box. On the Inverter there is a BMS port aswel. Do I have to use this cable for the BMS to work? According to the sales man tmit is not necessary to connect the Inverter and the batery for the BMS to work. Is this true?
February 15, 20251 yr A BMS will always protect the battery, with or without communication. The problem is that if you don't have communication, the inverter settings may be outside the current and voltage requirements of the battery. This could lead to the BMS shutting the battery down. First prize is to make the comms work. Second prize is to carefully set the inverter charge and discharge parameters.
February 15, 20251 yr On the Hubble website there is a guide for setting up most Inverters with their Batteries, including your brand. They have a disclaimer for the Mecer Inverter: "Axpert type inverters require a Cloudlink to access full CAN-BUS communication with a Hubble Energy battery, it is however not required, and the system will be functional on user defined voltage control." So you will have to do the manual settings unless you purchase the Cloudlink option over and above. https://www.hubbleenergy.com/mecer Edited February 15, 20251 yr by zsde
February 16, 20251 yr Author Good morning. Thanks for the info I did install it manually for now. Until I het the cloud link. For the cloud link to work do I have to get some device for the inverter aswel to be able to conect to the internet? I se there is a App Whatch power but it seems I can't get it to conect to my phone without some module of a kind. I'm guessing I would neet it for cloud link aswel?
February 16, 20251 yr @QuinsHubble_cloudlink_installation_manual Above installation manual for Riot cloudlink.
February 16, 20251 yr @Quins Below procedure for watch power configuration or you could use Solar assistant by purchasing the package. icba_wifi_mod_manual.pdf

February 16, 20251 yr Author I installed the Watchtower app but when I want to conect to the internet is says the app keeps stopping and then the app completely closes. Any advice? The link to Solar Assistant is it a different app I can use instead of watchtpower?
February 16, 20251 yr Author Could someone please help me. How do I know exactly what percentage my battery is. The inverter only gives an estimate between 100% 75% 50% and 25%.
February 16, 20251 yr Howdy, There is no reliable way to determine state of charge of the battery via the Axpert inverters. The inverter uses voltage to determine the SoC and that method was geared more towards AGM/SLA batteries. And even with those, under load the voltage of the battery would drop showing a unreliable SoC. For AGM/SLA batteries the voltage method is roughly reliable for batteries that have been at rest for a period. With lithium batteries the plot thickens, as it has a relatively flat curve as far as voltage vs. SoC s concerned. In short the only reliable way would be via the BMS of the battery. I'd recommend looking at Solar Assistant, as it can communicate with the inverter and battery directly and produces a better picture of the lay of the land. #my2cents
February 16, 20251 yr If you are installing the Cloudlink RIOT you will be able to tell via that. While I don’t have one, I recall reading up on it a few years ago and that’s like dialing straight into your battery BMS. So it will tell you! I last used WatchTower a few years ago when I had an Axpert. I connected it to my WIFI via the RS232 port with what they called a ‘WiFi box’. Have a look at the PowerForum post here for more detail: Look online for them, here is one but can’t vouch for the legitimacy of the website: https://oricolimports.co.za/products/inverter-wifi-box-compatible-with-msk-ii-axpert-king-5kva?srsltid=AfmBOopC3OihfoFScBAlC9gGpfB7nZMK8yMZCVfZB8QgoAVs1LJlYpkJ
February 17, 20251 yr Author I installed the Watchtower app but when I want to conect to the internet is says the app keeps stopping and then the app completely closes. Any advice? Is it a Issue with my phone ore the app it self. I can't seem to confirm the wifi cenetion then it just stops and exit the App?
