Hi,

I cannot get watch power to communicate to my 5000w Axpert King, the unit comes with what seems to be a RJ45 to RS232 cable, I bought a RS232 to USB converter and cannot get the unit to be recognised, I have tried windows 7 through Windows 10, Device Manager drivers changes etc ? has anyone got this working ?

I used the micro usb port on my King. Initially it wouldn't work but i found if i left the cable  plugged in for a few minutes it would start to work.I couldn't get the data logging working thou.I ended up getting ICC. if you going to be monitoring,making changes to setting on the fly it well worth it. ICC is not 100% setup for the king inverters at the moment but @Manie went in to my system and made a few changes to get ICC  readings correct.

 

So you went from the Micro usb to your PC (which version of windows may I ask) and it worked ?

I'm using similar inverters from the same manfacturer and for me it's working okay on Windows 7 PC and Win10 laptop too. Given you have a good driver and a correct baudrate set, it should work with almost any Windows version...

Can you post a screenshot of "Devices - COM" when you have USB convertor plugged in and then 2nd screenshot of the Devices-COM when the USB convertor is un-plugged from the PC?

Yes from micro usb to pc. Windows 10 

Good Day Guys

I managed to connect my Axpert to the laptop running Watchpower using the network port on the inverter and usb on the laptop. This was with a serial converter cable. 

I bought the ICC software with the Raspberry pi. My previous cable does not seem to work with the pi. 

The micro usb connector on the inverter to usb on the pi has also been unsuccessful to date. Ive read the micro usb cables can be tricky to find the right one  

To maybe prevent serious further frustration is there any tips/tricks to connect the Axpert to the Raspberry pi via the micro usb port on the inverter  

any input will be appreciated

Have same problem how can we connect the axpert king to PC.??

I've tested:

• Micro USB port -> Works
• RS232 -> Works
• Bluetooth -> Works

The only one I haven't tested is RS485.

You don't need to buy the above mentioned software for it to work.  It works like any other Axpert inverter.  The Micro-USB port did seem finicky about the USB cable tho.  Maybe try a few cables?

Use an android phone with Watchpower App.

Bluetooth communication sadly doesn't work on iPhones with this app

no wonder. I can download the watchpower app but my iphone can't connect.

I have problems connecting:

- Android via Bluetooth works. sadly watchpower desktop app settings have different naming and more options than the smartphone app. Confusing.
- iphone doesn't work as it seems to support Wifi only
- Macbook Laptop with Watchpower Software doesn't connect through USB nor bluetooth nor network or cross-over network cable. Inverter doesn't show as a bluetooth device.
- Windows PC available but far away from inverter. Extra Wifi AP available. Cross-Over Network Cable available.

How can I connect without an Android Phone?

Bluetooth works pretty much like serial ports.  I did a quick test myself and the process was:

1) Connect using Bluetooth on the operating system

2) Use a quick Ruby script to use the Bluetooth as a serial port and send the same commands as usual.

Whether or not WatchPower supports it wasn't something I tested or cared to test.
