October 20, 20205 yr Hello... I noticed that its more expensive to charge batteries from the Grid. Is there a way to automatically prevent the inverters from charging batteries using grid at night? Instead it must resort to the use of grid power..
October 20, 20205 yr Drop the grid charging current to the minimium setting Change the charging priority setting to not allow charging from the grid Edited October 20, 20205 yr by Bloubul7

October 20, 20205 yr Author I have a mecer 5kva inverter and..thanks bloubul7 .I see the setting 16..only solar charges battery..hopefully when battery is low it will automatically use grid power to power the house...I'll test it tonight

October 21, 20205 yr How many batteries do you have connected? It could be that when the load increases the battery voltage drops below the "return to grid" level. Have you set up the battery settings accordingly to your battery specifications?
October 21, 20205 yr Author I have 1 x 4.8kwh 100amp h battery ..it was fully charged by solar. Bulkcharge voltage set to 56.4v Floating charge voltage set to 54v Low DC cut off voltage set to 42v Overload bypass is enabled. I was expecting it to use battery solar and first.. But I realised that it's set to go to line mode if the overload in battery is detected. But just wondering is the battery can deliver 5kva for at lease a short while before inverter switches to grid?

Ordinary lead acid batteries don't like heavy discharges; 5 kW would be over 100 A, so over 5C for a 100 Ah battery. This will not be good for long life. They would probably provide that power for a few minutes, at the expense of battery life, if the inverter allowed it to (e.g. if there was no AC-in). But likely the battery voltage would sag so much that the inverter-charger (especially without the KettleKomp™ feature of patched firmware) would immediately switch to grid. 200 Ah (of nominally 48 V) is the minimum recommended size for a 5 kVA (especially a 5 kW) inverter.
January 23, 20233 yr looking to invest in growatt 5kva hybrid inverter with greenrich up5000 battery. Can it be set up that grid doesn't charge battery & it is only charged via solar panels?

So maybe someone can give us specific answers for this machine. But one expects two parameters settings to control this need: 1. You can control the charge priority by setting it to OSO which means solar only. 2.even if you do allow grid charging you can limit the maximum charging from this source all the way down to 2A (battery amps).
