  1. Thanks for the useful Update @TaliaB. 👍
  2. Where was the 9000W of power going too? Essential load / Non Essential load, feeding back to Grid. Where the batteries fully charged, or taking some of the power? Edit, after looking at spreadsheet. I see your batteries were taking +- 85A(SOC 57%), and then about 20 minuets later, only 26A(SOC 61%), but the DC power was still 9000W. I see your Max charge current is set to 150A, has it ever reached that limit? On the spreadsheet I see 120A. On the DC bus the inverter can get to 10400W of power, but only if the batteries are taking the excess power(1600W), and the AC load is 8800W. Never tested this on my inverter yet..🤔
  3. Let the pictures and diagrams begin.... 👍 May you have fun with the installation, and use of your new expensive "toy".
  4. Mute topic, as global warming hysteria is all nonsense, and human intervention is irrelevant, as the sun's cycles control temperatures on earth. What humans can do is poison the earth and atmosphere with many toxic elements been dispersed in the atmosphere and on earth. This is a different discussion though.
  5. TimCam replied to Procon's topic in Solar Power
Any large intermittent loads? (Motors) Battery capacity? Solar capacity?
  6. Have all these inverter given the same strange readings from first day of installation, or is this a new problem? AC voltage is high, but in my area in KZN, it is not unusual to go as high as 262V.
  7. Yes, if he is looking for a new installation, best to look for the latest offering.👍
  8. The current Sunsynk 16 kW inverter is a beast. 3 * MPPT Max Operating Current = 26A+26A+26A, Max Short Circuit Current = 44A+44A+44A. Max usable PV = 20800W. See below for Datasheet. Sunsynk_Max_Datasheet_v9_English.pdf
  9. Unfortunately the old SunSynk 8.8 kW could only process between 18 - 20A per MPPT, mine is one of those, so no 26A for me, therefor the clipping at 19.8A. 😢
  10. @TaliaB From December 2023 to show some clipping. KZN Midlands Canadian Solar 415W Imp = 10.56A Isc = 11.14A Vmp = 39.3V Voc = 47.8V MPPT2:- P2S6 (12 panels) = 4980W, Voc 286.8V, Vmp 235.8V Total Facing 25 Deg NE ( N=0 Deg, E=90 Deg, S=180 Deg, W=270 Deg), Elevation tiled roof +- 22 Deg. SunSynk 8.8 kW +- 2021, never upgraded Firmware.
  11. I would suspect an actual loss of AC into the inverter. Maybe loose wiring, faulty isolator, changeover, AC protection device, etc. If you have a multi-meter and are comfortable removing the lower cover, you could check the AC into the inverter on the input terminals. Check if there is AC from Eskom by moving the changeover to bypass the inverter. Welcome to the forum.
  12. Should have used thermal paste, just like you do on a PC CPU and GPU between hot IC's and Heat syncs. Good to see your brother in laws, setup. Hope your plumber corrects yours accordingly. 👍 My 20 tube setup uses a re-circulation pump, as the geyser is below the roof.
  13. Whichever side is hot, that is the output of the manifold, and the direction the water will be flowing towards. Possibly the installers never put enough thermal paste on the copper rods that push into the manifold, therefore not enough heat is transferred, compared to your old installation. If the direction of flow has changed, possibly yes. Has the length and height of the pipes changed with this new refit?
  14. How often does it happen? At night with no PV? During the day with PV? With light loads or heavy loads? Does it happen with uneven phase loads? (i.e. heavy loads on one phase, and light loads on the other two) I think the 12 kW can have up-to 60% load on one phase, can't remember for sure though.
  15. https://www.scribd.com/document/617276589/Modbus-V118-1 About page 42.👍 Search parameter on google. sunsynk "W01- Reserve"
  16. Are you possibly using custom software to interrogate the inverter? Maybe trying to access a non existing variable / address? Had a quick look, but most is in Chinese.
  17. Or just bite the bullet and go to the powerforum shop and get a decent New 10kW SunSynk hybrid for just on R40 K. Comes with 3x amazing MPPT's which will handle all your panels. https://powerforum-store.co.za/products/sunsynk-10kw-1p-hybrid-pv-inverter-48v-c-w-wifi-dongle-ip65?pr_prod_strat=e5_desc&pr_rec_id=c1afdfa25&pr_rec_pid=7294411964486&pr_ref_pid=6836779450438&pr_seq=uniform
  18. Bump, any news on the new S6's with displays on the inverter. Specs and prices on the single and three phase units? @Natasha Tshabalala.
  19. Any feedback or video's from the shows so far would be lovely to see?
  20. It would be interesting to know what was the cause of the damage in the first place, as many of us have the exact same 8 kW inverter. Mine has been through many major lightning storms, failed municipal neutrals, (+300V) lots of spikes, etc, and still working solidly. Maybe the CoCT has an especially dangerous grid. 🤔 Sorry to hear about such high labor costs😲, but once repaired, why not hang onto it?
  21. Looking good. Lots of time to install such a system.👍 Seems like the customer wants lots of redundancy, else it would have been easier to install a 50kW unit.
  22. An old video by Kieth, but should be useful info.
  23. @NoJ, I've been paying the municipal MCB charge in Pietermaritzburg for the last 16 years already. This charge is the basic connection fee dependent on the size of the municipal MCB, (mine is 50A). Before even 1 kW/h is consumed I pay R1068.00 for this connection. 😡 So when Eskom implements a similar structure, everyone will be paying for the corrupt "officials" and all the millions of freeloaders. I have had enough of this corruption and freeloaders, and am planing to move to a farm and totally off-grid lifestyle, so as to no longer pay this sickening socialist "tax". We have people living up the road on "chiefs land" who have "official" illegal power and water connections, with NO meters on water or power. Their multiple spot lights are ALL on at night. At one of the mayors meetings, I brought this and other queries up, and was told, "it's payback time, and to basically pay up and shut-up." 😡 Totally sick and tired of these double standards, so aim to no longer pay this socialist "tax", and disconnect from the system. Question. If years ago the power and water was so affordable so as not to be a burden, what has changed? Answer. Mismanagement, incompetence, arrogance, theft, etc.... The volume of supply and demand is NOT the issue. Even illegal connections are due to the the above Answer. So as to the question of new rates and tariffs, my condolences to all who aim to stay on-grid. 😢
  24. Are you referring to the SPD (Surge Protection Device), which has now fired, and gone "black" or "red"? This needs to be replaced, and depending where you are, a local installer or electrician can assist. If you are referring to an under and over voltage protection device, these normally have displays, and can be adjusted. Either way your location will determine which installer can assist. 👍 Welcome to the forum, and hope you come right.
  25. Also check your Setting for "Grid Trickle Feed". Normally set between 20 - 50W, but maybe set to 500W by mistake.
