  1. Deye makes the firmware for Sunsynk, and the deye employees do the software updates for Sunsynk also. So if anything is happening on Sunsynk firmware updates, it's already done on Deye.
  2. What's the difference apart from the phone app? The settings on the inverter are essentially the same as the deye. At times different wordings. Impossible for one to give more savings than the other since it's the same thing. Deye as the manufacturer you get direct access to their engineers working on the actual firmware etc if there's an issue. Sunsynk is a middle man. Nevertheless both are good. No issues either way. Deye service centre is definitely faster than Sunsynk though at the moment. Whichever you choose, it's a great product, comfortably amongst the best.
  3. I would recommend deye inverter with deye batteries. You'll get a 10 year warranty with the combo, so no stress. As mentioned above it's the same thing as Sunsynk, but the oem with an arguably better service centre. Failure rate is low. But with the high percentage of installs using them, there will obviously be a lot mentioned on forums etc.
  4. Maybe check all the mc4 connections at the panels on the strings of the inverter in question
  5. Dangerous if cracked, water gets in, will short circuit. Get rid of it.
  6. To keep the battery fully charged all the time you can just untick "time of use". If you wish to drain to specific SoC % at various times in the day then tick it, and set according to your requirements.
  7. Untick time of use in the second pic And Untick activate battery in the 6th pic. That's only when battery is dead. Try that
  8. I would try a simple home assistant install on that device to confirm the device is working properly. If it is working fine, then try whatsapp solar assistant support team on +27870931601, they are quick to help.
  9. Overall it needs a bit of know how, so if you aren't familiar with IT, networking etc, i would suggest you get someone to help you out.
  10. The 250m solution will be a point to point connection, the two antennas will basically connect as if they are a lan cable. No other devices, phones etc can connect to that. Then at the remote end if you want a WiFi network that you can connect your phone or other devices to, that will require a separate access point to achieve.
  11. Give this a read https://powerforum.co.za/topic/11977-sunsynk-88-with-pylontech-us3000c-bms-cable/
  12. +27 60 968 5145 This is freedomwons whatsapp support line.
  13. Have you tried shielded lan cable for the comms cable to the battery, especially if it's next to the power cabling. Freedomwon support is excellent, give them a call.
  14. Tried a full factory reset and restart on the inverter?
  15. Where you based? May be an issue with your installers wiring, the neutrals may be mixed up. I would get a master electrician familiar with solar to check the wiring.
  16. Also note the position of your thermostat tube, it MUST be at 10am or 2pm (relative to the element) to function correctly.
  17. Geyserwise specify that you use the satchwell vfk11 in this use case (get the proper satchwell brand). We have quite a few like this. Geyserwise email and phone technical support is top notch if you need assistance.
  18. Thanks for the review. Will stick to the cbi astute or the tomzn alternatives mentioned in your other thread.
  19. Also have the tomzn equivalent, works great, and was very cheap at under R200 each https://a.aliexpress.com/_EGGoepr Works perfectly, imports into home assistant easily as well. I wouldn't push it to 63a but for a 4kw geyser it works fine.
  20. Sorry to say that master Sunsynk doesn't really hold much weight these days. But I would first try him again and explain, since you paid him already and he should sort it out. If after that you don't come right, try @Leshen or Steve87
  21. Wonder how reliable this would be : https://github.com/mrk-its/homeassistant-blitzortung Seems better than the DFROBOT board above, which seems very finicky and a bit of a headache from what I've read. Such as : https://community.home-assistant.io/t/esphome-with-as3935-franklin-lightning-sensor-try-increasing-the-spike-rejection-value/209621 https://community.openhab.org/t/as3935-franklin-lightning-sensor-with-esphome/157563
  22. https://www.diyelectronics.co.za/store/current-voltage/2294-lightning-sensor-40km-range.html?srsltid=AfmBOoqplNXLHHmJjBRKNkvP6tNY1rwJvwnE7t83wD7M549GLAqDgCrk This could work to disconnect from the grid, with home assistant
  23. Great suggestion regarding Powerforum stores recommended installers, there's way too many cowboys out there, rather buy all the equipment from them (speak to Steve), and get their recommended vetted installer to do the job. Powerforum stores prices are often better than buying directly from the supplier with a resellers account.
  24. It will require electricians intervention, but that will take half an hour rather than a few weeks for repairs.
  25. To have the battery comms working properly, it needs to be one model of battery from a specific manufacturer. Mixing different models / brands is possible but using voltage control only and not for the usual application. Warranty may also be an issue.
