  1. Hey @SeaOtter are you still looking for an inverter ?
  2. Can always add fronius in the future and run a mini grid system , this is how I would expand on mine if I did .
  3. @oddysee I have a 3kva victron and solar MD 7.4kwh battery . I have been very happy thus far and cycle my battery every night . On a decent sunny day I generate just over 21kwh .
  4. I'm not sure if this is what you are looking for @NoordSolar ?
  5. @deapsquatter I had a very similar issue that started last week . i did a full power down and system reboot and it's back to normal .
  6. My smart switch is used to switch a single phase 25A contactor , I would not reccomend using a sonoff to switch without a secondary contactor or solid state relay.
  7. I'll be holding thumbs for you ! I'm sure you are going to see an improvement.
  8. @PaBz0r what has your highest daily yield been so far ?
  9. On my 7.4kWh I discharge it to 10% daily so around 6.5kwh used to power my home from 10PM untill morning.
  10. @Ironman I did a very similar install ! You wont go wrong with the 5kva it seems so cost about R8k more than the 3kva . Do you have a view on your daily and monthly KWH used currently ? I would also reccomend looking at solar MD lithium as an option , I have been very happy with their product and technical support.
  11. So I have had my first full month with the system so thought I would share . This is supposed to be the lowest yield month of the year in Durban so I'm quite happy with the result .
  12. Ok so I found an example from my logs , here you see the battery reach 100% and the PV yield drop .
  13. @Kilowatt your inverter will only make use of 2400w . I use my battery during the evenings this allows for extra capacity to be used . 2400w for the house load and 1000w to charge battery .
  14. https://www.victronenergy.com/live/battery_compatibility:solar_md Solar MD have updated documentation on their Victron setup so thought I would share .
  15. Thanks gents , yes all cables run through the rear on my install . You can get a housing from most electrical suppliers and machine the lid .
  16. @Hannes7212 I wish I could help here , this was a home DIY and my first solar project. @plonkster might know of an installer that can assist ?
  17. This controls the set points for charge and discharge . And is used for coms between battery and venus . I dont think you can do the installation without it I'm afraid . And it is also used for online interface to the battery for any mo storing you may want to do .
  18. @demaniak working on timing my loads and using battery has greatly improved the issue . Befor the install I was using over 900kwh a month . I am hoping to be around 300kwh a month now . My best day has been 13kwh solar yield
  19. Sure my system is victron , multiplus ll, venus GX , MPPT 150-60 , 7.4kwh Solar MD and logger V2 , Art solar 350w panels not quite north facing and tilt is not great for winter . I get sun from 9am until 3pm , so far I am getting around 11-12kwh per day . I have been using around 4kwh from my battery per day , I guess it all depends on how you use the battery as well as the load you are planning to run . My grid consumption was 30kwh per day and now 15kwh at the very most , I did also fit a ev tube geyser
  20. Going to do it this weekend 😎
  21. Great I will do the same tonight , I will also discharge battery a little more so I have more work for my PV , I have all my heavy load automated pool & geyser .
  22. Thanks @demaniak , I would like to see what can be changed to keep PV producing at full tilt
  23. Hi @plonkster I have basically had it set like that . I was just worried as my pv generation seems very spikey . Tomorrow is a perfectly clear day so will monitor again .
  24. Hi @plonkster what have you found to be the best ESS setup ? I know this is a how long is a piece of string type of question however you have an idea of what I have installed and I would greatly appreciate your opinion on this
